There were 41 seconds left and Pilots down 3.  It looked like BYU was going to commit a 10 second violation getting across half court.  Instead the refs stopped the game for the clock malfunction.  After correcting, instead of 1 or 2 seconds left, they gave BYU another 10 seconds.  That forced Pilots to foul, BYU made all their FTs, and it was over.

Questions:
- what caused the error?  There were no other clock errors I am aware of in this game.
- is that new 10 seconds the correct ruling?

Too bad it came down to this.  Great defense today, but BYU also defended the Pilots well, and they shot poorly (14-40 on 2P shots, 4-17 on 3P shots).

I usually think WBB officiating is garbage, but other than this clock deal I thought the game was reasonably well officiated.  Am I correct?

Don't have the official rulebook on hand, but CB mentioned that a timeout in the backcourt resets the 10 seconds count on the last dead ball/possession. That includes a ref timeout apparently. Correct ruling, but not a fair one.

Agreed on your other points. Not a great way to end the season, but BYU got hot offensively in crunch time and the Pilots didn't have an answer.

Nick Daschel at the Oregonian thinks we might be alive for a WNIT bid: https://www.oregonlive.com/pilots/2022/03/portlands-upset-bid-of-no-15-brigham-young-falls-short-as-cougars-win-59-52-in-wcc-semifinals.html

BYU fell behind GU early, and could never get closer than 3 points in the 4th quarter. The final was GU 71-59. BYU suffered from poor shooting (perhaps due to all the energy expended to defeat the Pilots?). Zags once again are league tourney champs.

He also sees Oregon St. hosting a WNIT game, and the Pilots as a potential opponent. https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2022/03/oregon-state-womens-basketball-and-postseason-what-to-know-about-the-wnit.html

That would be an extremely fun matchup.

I'll take a guess at Idaho State at home for WNIT

That is what I am looking for too...

ISU will not be going to the NCAA Tournament after losing in their tournament and are ranked second in the Big Sky...they are an auto-bid to the NIT if the rules haven't changed.
