She got her knee overextended when a byu player and she knocked knees.

Haylee Andrews knees collided with the knee of a BYU player along Portland's baseline. Haylee fell after the buckling of her knee--she was audibly in tears--had to be helped from the court. The good news is she returned to the bench, though with her knee wrapped in a sizable ice bag.
It was not pretty.

Not counting the tournament win against the Zags two years ago, when was the last time the women's team beat a ranked team in a regular season game? Home and/or away?

Per the history and records published by the Athletics Department: 2013-14 season on January 8, 2014 the Pilot women beat then #24 San Diego 72-51 at home.

BYU was also ranked 16 in the Coaches Poll
https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/rankings
UP climbed from 63 to 56 in the NET ranking with last night’s results.
BYU dropped only one point from 12 to 13.

To whoever runs the Pilots YouTube channel: the full game video and audio of last night's women's and men's games are really out of sync.

When Haylee went down in great and loud agony I saw grown men with tears running down their faces in support and sympathy for her.Rob's Jacket wrote:For those of us who weren't able to watch the game, what was the injury? Hate to have any kind of damper on such a huge win.
On the other hand, some of the more cultish fans, many of whom were not wearing masks, decided it was a good time to cheer and exhort their team as if UP's point guard and team leader was not lying prone on the floor in tears.
For me it was a reminder of the many such instances of boorish behavior by cult followers from past games, but this time a few Pilot fans took action. Maybe not our finest hour for sure, but sometimes people just need to be confronted about their behavior.

Re: 2022 WCC Season/Games
As a sports fan I get a little crazy at times, but some of the behavior I saw yesterday, especially with Haylee lying on the court literally screaming in pain, was something I have never witnessed before and hope I never do again.
I admit to verbally confronting some in response to their unsportsmanlike behavior, but as many were with little kids that were following the lead of their parents/grandparents, I stopped short of the more outward behavior I felt was appropriate at the time.
It have been to plenty of games against very good opponents with huge followings, but never I have seen this sort of action by their supporters.

Re: 2022 WCC Season/Games
To be fair, my recollection of events was a bit more nuanced. Haylee went down and play continued until the referees realized it and stopped action. The coach, players, and others rushed to Haylee, and while there was an initial murmuring and talking about what happened across the arena, it quickly died away. I recall looking at our bench, BYU's bench, and then around the arena and it was just plain dead quiet - and stayed that way. Somebody started to play music over the loudspeakers and quickly thought better of it. Finally, when Haylee was helped up, nearly everybody applauded, including the BYU bench and fans. As she was helped to hobble across the floor, the boorish behavior started. My wife took the lead on our behalf with a Cougar fan in front of us and it seemed like similar fan out-bursts were happening elsewhere. For the most part, I thought BYU was respectful and appropriate, but there are always outliers - with all teams.

Not unexpected boorish behavior aside, the O has finally acknowledged there is a division 1 team in Portland. I guess we just have to beat ranked teams.

So is that the norm for commentators and articles to quote ranking from instead of net?

For me, the single turning play of the night was Keeley's 3-pointer (her second of the season) to make it a two-possession game with just over 2 minutes to go.Geezaldinho wrote:Not unexpected boorish behavior aside, the O has finally acknowledged there is a division 1 team in Portland. Alex and Lucy will get the well-deserved headlines, but face it, this was a team effort led by Rose down the stretch.
A VERY humble and delightful 4.0 accounting major who plans to move on to a well-paying job after graduating in May, it turns out she is also cool as ice in clutch situations.
Haylee is out indefinitely, her backup Kelsey is apparently done for the season due to injury, and yesterday the team was missing starter Emme and first player off the bench, Maisie. Yeah, I would say this was a win for the ages over a team with a 12 NET that UP had not beaten in the Chiles Center in 14 years.

Frawley, with more court time, has the talent to be a significant contributor to Pilot fortunes, I think. But to add to your comments, Lucy Cochrane emerged to some degree as an offensive force against BYU, above and beyond her defensive contributions. Her mid-range jumper was a factor in the game's outcome, in addition to her inside presence. Let's also note MJ Bruno's contribution, like Frawley stellar defense and she too hit a three.

It’s not out of sync when I watch it. Try resetting or closing your browser/APP/machine and see if that fixes it.
Or click on the “watch on YouTube” link.
