Now THAT would have been a scarey game for the SCU fan.Geezaldinho wrote:And 3 minutes after that SCU goes ahead 2-1

It's the first weekend. Some people need to save the angst for the playoffs.

Re: Other scores
Interesting that Stanford has 42 shots in 2 games, same as the Pilots, with 3 goals, same as the pilots, but the Pilots are 2 - 0 and Stanford is 1 - 1. Yea!

Re: Other scores
I read that UCLA had 6 goals on 17 shot in the first period against Cal Poly SLO.
Ouch.
Do you think they were trying to make a statement?

How much of a statement can you make against CAL Poly?

Re: Other scores
More than you can make with Portland State and CS Northridge:
Cal Poly SLO (RPI 66)
CS Northridge (RPI 110)
PSU (RPI 116)

Last year, you might have been able to make a statement against Cal Poly as they went 14-5, were a shootout short of the NCAA Tournament (I think), lost to Stanford during the regular season 2-1, and were 66 in the end-of-season RPI. It looks to me, however, like they lost 7 players to graduation or injury, including their GK. That GK went 14-2. Their backup GK started and lost 3 games with a 2.39 Goals Against Average and a 0.667 saves percentage. That backup GK is the one that played the first half (6 goals) against UCLA. I'd say this looks like a rebuilding year for Cal Poly, so I agree with the Geez that 7-0 doesn't mean much.
Re: Other scores
Big upset, possibly so far this year, although it's hard to know what's really an upset this early:
UNC Greensboro 2, Wake Forest 1 @ Wake Forest
Wake, in the early season rankings, is at 8 (Soccer Times), 10 (NSCAA), 11 (Top Drawer), and 15 (Soccer America). They finished #13 in the end-of-regular-season RPI last year and made it to the NCAA Elite Eight. On the other hand, ACC fans say that Wake lost quite a bit last year and had them ranked down around #7 in the ACC in their own rankings.

Greensboro has always been able to muster some upsets.
They beat Duke last year, which helped put the nail in the coffin of their season, and only lost to Wake by a goal. They also only lost by a goal to UNC and to Stanford.
I think the year before I remember some upsets, too, though I can't figure out how to access their record that far back.
Of course, their problem has been consistency. They also lost to teams like Sanford, Davidson (twice) and VA Tech.
If they could just get it together consistently...
