Re: 2022 WCC Schedule and COVID Concerns
I guess we'll have to wait until Thursday to know if you owe me $5, but for now it is scheduled as a semi-doubleheader with the UP women playing at 4pm and the USF/GU men playing at 8pm on national television.Geezaldinho wrote:DoubleDipper wrote:
Hmm, will it be a double-header? The UP women are in Spokane on Thursday ..
$5 says there is a COVID pause on the Zag womens team.

Personally, I understand the economics of it, and frankly, the schedule works out okay for UP.Commissioner Gloria Nevarez would tell you that she admires and respects every member of her conference.
In reality, though, the WCC has decided it likes the schools that bring in money just a little more than it cares about everyone else.
The conference proved that over the weekend by throwing the University of Portland under the proverbial bus.

Yeah, I'm fine with making sure that game gets played. Go Dons.
And as our AD mentioned, extra rest now and a Saturday home game instead of a Thursday one. Wins all around.

The rescheduling is interesting because on the 5th we were originally supposed to play in San Francisco. So San Francisco traded their Saturday home game for an away game and a Tuesday game is now in SF 3 days later. Do you think any money changed hands in addition to help grease the wheels of freaking with the hassle?

One thing we won’t see is John Stockton if we ever do finally play the Zags.
Stockton an antivaxer, has had his season tickets suspended for refusal to test or wear a mask at games.

Stockton has wandered around the Kennel without a mask all season and there has been a lot of criticism of the university because of it, but the previous AD did not have the balls to take action because of Stockton's status in Spokane and with donors.
Good to see action taken!

The previous AD retired 8/31/2021, a few months before spectators were allowed in the Kennel and mask mandates were in place, so his balls were not in the game.DoubleDipper wrote:Stockton has wandered around the Kennel without a mask all season and there has been a lot of criticism of the university because of it, but the previous AD did not have the balls to take action because of Stockton's status in Spokane and with donors.
