Re: 2024 Recruiting
I saw a reference yesterday that the NCAA will change the rules and will allow unlimited number of official recruit visits for men's and women's basketball. The only article I saw was from The Athletic, which requires a subscription, so I don't have a good link.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
As you would expect, Orange Lutheran is in Orange, California.
From what I have read about Lee, he has a very good pull-up jumper and is a consistent threat from behind the arc.
The team is in need of a backup point guard...it could be Lee is the guy...you have to love his energy.
A walk-on, Coach Legans has called him a "Super Walk-on!"

Re: 2024 Recruiting
….and here he is, UP’s newest scholarship player:
Carlin Briggs, 6’6 freshman combo guard, joins the Pilots from Melbourne, Australia. Carlin has participated in both his Australian U17 team, and the NBA Academy, the same distinguished basketball program as Bol Dengdit and Max Mackinnon. While playing for the Australian national team, Carlin put up almost 8 points per game.

In this Carlin Briggs tape, #9, you'll also catch glimpses of fellow UP freshman Austin Rapp, #15, during the Australia U17 games.

It is worthy to note that the Granada High School team that won the Nor Cal D1 Championship last year was led by former Pilot Tyler Harris...up7587 wrote:From Granada HS in Livermore CA.@navaughn2_ wrote:Shooting Guard • 6’6 • Granada High • GPA 3.39 • Nor Cal Division 1 Champions 2022-2023• NCS Scholar Athlete 2024

So now the roster is full? The last two players to add are high school commits. Adds to the previous comments about the youth and lack of D-1 experience on the team.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
So far, 10 freshmen!up7587 wrote:So now the roster is full? The last two players to add are high school commits. Adds to the previous comments about the youth and lack of D-1 experience on the team.
Redshirt freshmen:
1. Kelson Gebbers
2. Jude Harris (walk-on)
3. Vince Delano
Incoming freshmen:
4. Mikah Ballew
5. Jinup Dobul
6. Aussie Rapp
7. Todd Jones
8. Carlin Briggs
9. Preston Lee (walk-on)
10. Vaughn Long (walk-on)
We know that Coach Legans has a history of bringing in freshmen (including walk-ons) and redshirting them for one year and then those freshmen become team leaders under his development, but that was before "free agency." Now, with NIL money everywhere, the staff develops freshmen and they are apt to move on to $$$,$$$.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
There is still one scholarship remaining.
From what I am hearing, the staff is not recruiting for a specific position, but instead is looking for the best player available...
...but a bigger guy would be nice!!

Javon Ervin did visit UP a couple of weeks ago, but the staff did not offer him a scholarship.up7587 wrote:@jakelieberman2 wrote:6'3 guard Javon Ervin out of Peninsula Junior College tells me that he's working out with Portland today.
In the past week, both FAMU & New Orleans have offered. Planning to visit both programs.
Averaged: 21.6 points per game
Tacoma, Washington native.
Now, Ervin has signed with "The Mount," Mt. St. Mary's University in Maryland and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Unlike Juanse at Ball St. where he is the only point guard, Ervin is one of four scholarship point guards at The Mount.

It would seem Mezziah Oakman fills that bill. I have seen him listed as 6'11" and at 7'0".
Now, are all the scholarships filled?
