Walton on P-12 Network
Am I the only one that finds Bill Walton unwatchable/"unlistenable"?
I am generally impressed with the Pac-12 Network's production quality and on-air talent... with this one exception.

Hahaha....yeah, but I treat his on-air stuff as comedy, not analysis. Try it, with Colbert no longer on the Comedy Channel, just think of Walton as a winter replacement.PilotNut wrote:Am I the only one that finds Bill Walton unwatchable/"unlistenable"?

Honestly, I rarely watch more than the last 10 minutes of any TV game, and that's only if the game is reasonably close....and if I don't like the commentary.....MUTE!

Wait a minute, I can get my HOA to pay for Comcast? I wonder if we can get some sort of a group rate? Tell me more.
As for Bill Walton, I've never been a fan (at least of his broadcasting).

Re: Walton on P-12 Network
Yes, my HOA has a bulk contract with Comcast that is at least 15 years old. It used to be a significant discount (I want to say it was about 40% off what would be paid if everyone was on their own), but recent renewals of the contract have removed most of that, and now the discount is minimal. The bulk arrangement that is paid by the HOA provides basic cable (the 70 or so channels, standard def.) to all units, and then each unit can update/pay individually from there.
It was a great deal back before HD, DVRs, internet service, etc... now, not so much. I wouldn't be surprised if our HOA gives up on it at some point. The HOA would never allow dishes to be installed, so Comcast is really the only option for the time being.

Who doesn't?
I get it along with FoxSports1, NBC Sports, Root Sports, ESPN1&2 and CSNNW. I pay a little extra and also get ESPNews, Outdoor Ch, CBS Sports, and the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB channels. I rarely watch those last ones, but the CBS channel has some things I like.

Yeah, but the Only two providers in Portland are Comcast and Dish. DirectTV gives you the other sports channels and more.
I used to have Comcast, but their customer service was worse than the Airlines, and when I complained about the signal interference they refused to do anything until I switched. Then they promised me good signal.
( too late)
And if I switch from Direct, I lose all the Latin American packages I like. No more morning Buenos Aires news, no more Primera Futbol. No more Futebol Brasileño. No more Liga MX.
The PAC just isn't tops on my priority list.
Plus, if one of the stations isn't on my plan, DirectTv allows me to sign up for a station BY THE DAY. (It's actually by the month, but they pro-rate. A weekend is usually around 50¢). And there is no fee to sign on or off a channel.

Did I mention that my Latin American package includes a feed of all the games Los Patos play?(in Spanish)
I was back in the NY area for Christmas, and got a hispanic Cabbie (Mexico) I asked him who his favorite Futbol team was. He said Los Patos (the Ducks).

Re: Walton on P-12 Network
I met Bill Walton on campus one fine fair day. Said hello. A nice moment. Regardless, he was a cultural and sports icon of his generation.
It bears mentioning that he brought the Portland Trail Blazers their only championship in 5 and and a half decades.
RIP.
