College Football Time
Since our Pilots don't play (american) football (undefeated since 1950), we UP fans have a variety of college football interests. And we finally get to enjoy games again since the season starts this week; well unless you're a Beaver fan.To get in the mood, you can watch this modest video from the unassuming school at the southern end of the Willamette valley: https://youtu.be/mDpgzn7KuzE

Re: College Football Time
But to really appreciate the video, I think one needs to know who/what Gangnam Style is. Although, since it has almost 77,000,000 hits on YouTube.........maybe everyone has seen it.

Gonna be a heck of a long day - 6:00am kick off for ND vs. Navy and a 7:30 kick-off for Oregon Arkansas State. Guess I've got a lot of time in between to get some yard work done....7587 - you have any need for a full trailer you would like to empty?

Portland State football is making a special offer to all Oregon State fans who had plans for a college football weekend. This Saturday, when the Vikings host Carroll College, anyone showing their tickets to the postponed Oregon State vs. Nicholls State game can receive a free general admission ticket to the Viking game. One free ticket will be given for each OSU game ticket shown at JELD-WEN Field. Reserved seats will be available for sale. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:07 p.m.

A couple interesting games this week. Our friends at BYU soundly thrashed WSU. And I am sure one PN'er is celebrating CSU's defeat of Colorado today.
The Pac-12 is not looking super. Besides WSU and Colorado's losses, Cal lost at home to Nevada, and Stanford struggled to defeat to defeat San Jose St.

Reviving this thread. Kansas is hosting Texas today. Charlie Weis vs. Mack Brown. Might the gravitational pull of those two humongous egos attract a meteor?

Yea, after last week against LSU, 'Bama was due for a bit of letdown, but face it; this was A&M's game from the very beginning.up7587 wrote:aTm
There is no way Alabama would keep up with UO's pace of play based upon what we saw this afternoon....was it a hangover from LSU, or are they just less conditioned athletes than they are purported to be?

'Bama's athletes are fine, A&M and Johnny Football were just using that unfair hurry-up style that Sabin warned us about.

So, is it true that following 'Bama's loss to A&M on Saturday, President Obama will travel to Tuscaloosa this week to comfort a grief-stricken state?

Not sure. But I did hear that when ND beat Pitt in triple OT a week ago, the NBC crew stormed the field and tore down the goalposts.DoubleDipper wrote:So, is it true that following 'Bama's loss to A&M on Saturday, President Obama will travel to Tuscaloosa this week to comfort a grief-stricken state?

It's going to be a fun week for Notre Dame fans. If--IF-they can beat USC it'll be even more fun until the BCS Championship. Then they'll play an SEC team. That'll be fun for everyone else.

Haha, good picture of Brian Kelly. That is how he always seems to me.
If it comes down to which coach I'd rather see win it all, I guess I prefer Mark Richt of UGA over Brian Kelly or Nick Saban.

Re: College Football Time
The BCS Championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame could be one heck of a game, but today’s Georgia vs. Alabama game was of championship caliber.
Yes, the Stanford vs. UCLA game for the Pac-12 championship was good, but the SEC Championship game was undoubtedly one of the best I’ve EVER seen.

Nick Saban vs. Brian Kelly. Too bad they can't both lose.
I guess I'll have to root for our Holy Cross brethren. #ABS anybody but Saban

YGTBSM! Georgia is not selected for a BCS bowl?? But Norhtern Illinois is selected??
Whatever bowl gets Georgia is going to have one fine team, and fine game.

Rules are (ridiculous BCS) rules. NIU got into the top 16 so they get a spot. Louisville wins the Big East so they go as an AQ, which is also pretty funny. Have fun against Florida!
Oklahoma fans are the ones who really won't be happy tonight. They're the team that got bumped out. Georgia fans I think knew this was coming. Whoever lost the SEC Championship was going to fall below Florida and there's a maximum of two teams per conference. Georgia is going to the Capital One in Orlando against Nebraska...who gave up 70 to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship.
I know, it's all pretty stupid, but next year we'll be whining about who didn't get into the playoffs instead.

Re: College Football Time
The choice had to be Georgia or Florida; only 2 teams per conference allowed. Georgia will tromp Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl, if they show up with any motivation.
Congrats to NIU for forcing their way into the BCS. Oh, and that "weak" schedule Oregon played? Included 8 bowl teams.
