U.S. U-20s battle Norway, England and Germany

The Sounders meet Norwegian power Rosenborg on Thursday in the first round of the men's knockout competition. Also competing are Denmark's FC Nordsjaelland and FC Midtjylland, Norway's SK Brann, Molde FK and Stabaek, and Russia's FC Krylia. The final is Feb. 26.

I'll place a small wager that there will be more UP players in the U18 age group on that national team when they become U20's and U23's, after playing at UP for a while. Kendall is the perfect example - I don't think she was considered for any national teams when she was younger.

Actually, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think any of the UP national U23 players played on the U18 national team (maybe Elli?).

The whole structure of the the age groups changed right after Elli was on the U17 team. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I remember correctly there were U15, U16, U17, U19, U21, then they changed to the current age groups. Elli was in the U16 pool, on the U17 team, then U20, no U18 at that time.

Yeah, when we had Rapinoe, Woznuk, and Lopez all redshirt in 2004, they played on the u19 team.
