Question....

Post by DaTruRochin on Sun Oct 03, 2010 4:49 pm

Am I the only one who sees overtime in a non-elimination game as kind of superfluous?

(I'll take the OT win obviously, but the NCAA's usage of rules different then the rest of the soccer world just seems silly...)

I view overtime as bonus value for my sports ticket dollar.

I think that overtime during non-knockout-round games in soccer is silly. My take is that in America, there is this fixation with wanting to have a winner and a loser.

No. I also agree with your second statement.

How about this for silly: The Sounders' strong finish means they will move up enough in the standings to play one of the two best teams in the league in the first round of the playoffs.

Once you figure it out the MLS Playoff format is a lot of fun (to ridicule...)

Yeah, no I completely agree, I mean they play every team twice for the regular season... But then divide into 2 conferences?

Dumb.

The MLS Cup playoffs are kind of silly as it is, but I guess you need to americanize it a little bit, I mean to give teams sub .500 for the regular season to win the big trophy...
