First seed to fall

Post by SoreKnees on Fri Nov 14, 2008 2:52 pm

South Dakota State 1, Colorado 0 in St. Paul.
Temp in 30s.
Must have really missed Nikki Marshall and/or the home field/altitude advantage.

From SoreKnees on Monday.

SoreKnees wrote:Now that we know the bracket, it seems like it's about time to speculate on outcomes.

I'll start the fun: I predict that the following seeded teams will not make it through the first and second rounds.

Colorado (Minnesota wins at home)
Stanford (UCSB pulls giant surprise in first round)
Texas A&M (Washington wins in second round)

Agree? Disagree?

Agree with the Colorado prediction. Disagree with the opponent. Wink

I knew those predictions would come back to haunt me! Who would have thought the Jackrabbits had it in them?

Another early result: Florida 2, Cal 1. I thought that might be an upset, but not this time.

Last seeded team to lose in the first round: Santa Clara (a #1) to USC in 2006.

Huskies tied with LSU 2:2 at the end of regulation.

Consecutive scores from Kate Deines and Veronica Perez kept them in the game.

What a comeback! From the stats, it looks like they took over the match after the second LSU goal.
