WCC Honor Roll
Hey everyone... once again, the Pilots put on a very strong showing in the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which recognizes all student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or above, giving 'Gold' to those with a 3.75-4.0; 'Silver' to 3.5-3.74'; 'Bronze' from 3.00-3.49'.
UP had 130 student-athletes recognized out of 740 total from the WCC, a very impressive percentage. Overall, Gonzaga lead the way with 145 total, but a whopping 37 of them were from their rowing team. So if you compare GU-UP sport-for-sport, the Pilots come out ahead 130-108. And actually, there are 106 total out of the 740 that were awarded to Rowing. So when you think about it, that means UP had 130 of the 634 non-rowing Honor Roll members - over 20%!!! So clearly, UP has the smartest athletetes in the conference.
In fairness to Pepperdine... they don't have women's soccer. 18 members of UP's women's soccer team are on the Honor Roll, making the UP-Pep comparison 112-60. But we still totally smoked them!
In fairness to Pepperdine... the don't have MEN's soccer. 13 members of UP's men's soccer team are on the Honor Roll, making the UP-Pep comparison 117-60. But we still totally smoked them! [Thanks, Geezer! What would I do without you!]
Here's a break down:

no harm no foul
I can't get too critical. I have a confession to make.
Although I've been watching UP soccer for more than 15 years, It never occurred to me that the men don't play Pepperdine.
Wow! and I call myself a UP soccer geek.

Re: WCC Honor Roll
Looks like two of the Mens BB team made it. Smeulders 3.27 GPA, and Knutson 3.49 GPA.Maybe this year will have more "brawn" to go with those "brains" on the front line. Or something like that.......

Re: WCC Honor Roll
Nicely done!!! We've got true student athletes at UP in contrast to a school in the south in Eugene where every football player has a personal X-Box in his locker. LOL.
