KenPom has released his way too early predictions, and has the Pilots at #121 after finishing last season at #180.

2023 WCC Schedule 12110

Not included are games #2 and #3 at the PKI on Thanksgiving weekend.

KenPom predicts the WCC will be the #9 conference in the nation...the same position the WCC ended in last season.

UP is ranked #6 within the conference.

2023 WCC Schedule Empty Re: 2023 WCC Schedule

Our WCC home schedule start times are all over the place, and I am going to miss some games, basically since I assumed games would start at 7:00pm and made other commitments thinking they would not conflict.

The USD game this Thursday starts at 6:00pm. Prime rush hour traffic time. No TV, why not start at 7:00pm?
The Saturday game this week against PU is 3:00pm; guess I'll tape the ROOT broadcast to watch it later. I planned an afternoon activity months ago.
The GU game on Saturday the 28th is at 4:00pm. May arrive late or miss.
UOP game on 2/9 (Thu) is 6:00pm, another rush hour start. Broadcast on TheCW.
SMC game on 2/11 is at 3:00pm; another late arrival. CBS game. OK, I get that.
SCU game on 2/18 is at 5:30pm. Why? It's not a network broadcast.

The only 7:00pm starts are road games. Evil or Very Mad

2023 WCC Schedule Empty Re: 2023 WCC Schedule

Based on the schedule I'd say Dcott Leykam seems to think 7:00 starts are hard to get people to go to??? But then why were most non conference games at 7? Maybe it is the WCC after all? Scott seems to think Thursdays draw more people from Vancouver and I guess uh.... If it's at 6 he's thinking they stop before they go home? No idea. I assume he's got data somewhere to support this

From https://www.portlandtribune.com/sports/a-chat-with-university-of-portland-vp-for-athletics-scott-leykam/article_d1c96aa9-987e-55ab-8db3-6f2f5a6b1269.html

LEYKAM: "Attendance post-COVID, I think everybody in Oregon and southwest Washington will tell you we haven't completely figured it out. I think we started to see some nice blips in men's and women's basketball at the end of the season and winning definitely helped. I've taken on a much larger role in scheduling. It took me a while to figure out that when we play plays a huge role (in attendance). We have a better chance of drawing fans from Vancouver on Thursday night and a better chance of drawing people from the south on Saturday because of traffic patterns.
