James Madison Game
If the Interactive Bracket is a credible source, the game has been confirmed for Saturday, 7 PM, at Merlo.

Good Find Drummer, I looked there earlier and it didn't have a site, so I would assume it has been updated recently.

Re: James Madison Game
"We worked very hard defensively all weekend long and we made the best of our chances today," said 19th-year JMU coach Dave Lombardo. "It was a different type of game than Friday (a 1-0 win over Georgia). Georgia just wore you down, they were big hard and physical. Wake was a lot more technical, deliberate and purposeful. We just got numbers behind the ball and counter-attacked when we could."
Wake held a 16-9 advantage on shots.
From the JMU website. It sounds like they will put lots of players in the box and try to counter-attack. I hope they're ready to do a lot of chasing. We need to score early.

Re: James Madison Game
I have no worries about our ability to score against a pack it back team...
And with the way McClusky and Korie have been chasing people down... no worries on the counter attack either.

Re: James Madison Game
The adjective he didn't use was "dynamic" That is one he can add to technical, physical, hard, purposeful, deliberate etc.

Another note: Rutgers is at Stanford on Friday, 11/21 at 7 pm if you want to see whether or not the Pilots travel should they win.

Re: James Madison Game
Isn't this the team we were calling rugby players at the beginning of the season?

Re: James Madison Game
Yeah, Auto - we had quite the discussion about Rutgers and their "take no prosoners" rugby style earlier this season. KFTC, I believe, said that reputation went way back into the 1990's and perhaps even earlier.

Re: James Madison Game
Before this thread gets too too derailed...
Let's talk about James Madison a bit. Here's a link to their schedule/results:
http://www.caazone.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=85773
They're a bit Jekyll and Hyde, I think. A bad loss to Colorado (4-0), plus head-scratching several 2-1 losses: Richmond, George Mason, Old Dominion, Virginia Commonwealth. None of those teams made the tournament. (I think!) They also lost 2-1 to Northeastern in the CAA tournament, who advanced to the second round with a win over Harvard. They did beat Northeastern 2-1 earlier in the year as well.
But they also have some nice results: 1-0 win over Penn State, 1-0 win over William & Mary, a 4-3 win over Virginia Tech, the aforementioned 2-1 win over Northeastern, a 2-2 tie with Washington State (interesting!), and a 1-1 tie with West Virginia. Of course, they also beat Georgia (1-0) and Wake Forest (1-0) in the tournament.
So they've had some good success against quality teams.
As for players, they've got two studs on offense - Corky Julien (15 goals, 33 points) and Teresa Rynier (14 assists, 22 points). Julien was named the Colonial Conference player of the year and to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Season, second team. Two midfielders were named to the CAA first team as well: Rynier and Kim Germain.
Just for the heck of it, here are their results against tournament teams:
Game Date, School, Site, Result
Aug. 29, Washington State, home, T 2-2, 2 OT
Sept. 7, Colorado, away, L 0-4
Sept. 14, West Virginia, away, T 1-1, 2 OT
Sept. 18, Penn State, home, W 1-0
Sept. 21, Virginia Tech, away, W 4-3, 2 OT
Oct. 7, Northeastern, home, W 2-1
Oct. 19, William and Mary, away, W 1-0, 2 OT
Nov. 7, Northeastern, neutral, L 1-2
I guess that's it for my scouting report... here's a link to their official site:
