“I don’t know what to say. She used to give me training lessons when I was 13,” Konkel recalled.

Konkel went so far as to say that it was Cox who taught her how to “drive,” or kick the ball harder.

She said the decision to attend Oregon wasn’t that hard.

“It was really between there and Santa Clara,” she admitted. “I really love the climate (in Eugene). The whole campus is pretty and they have a landscaping program. I have an interest in going into that.”

Last season the Lady Ducks, under Coach Tara Erickson, finished third in the Pac-10.

“It really came down to the fact that I want to play Pac-10 soccer,” said Konkel.
