Article on Baseball Scholarships

Post by Raider1 on Wed Jun 24, 2015 2:25 pm

Thought this article was an interesting read on how some programs leverage scholarships. Since we discussed scholarships earlier in this thread, thought I would share this.

Shocked  Holy Crap; no wonder UP has an attorney as its compliance officer!

Not only for that reason. One of the beauties of the compliance officer being an attorney is that courts have ruled that, as an unincorporated business association, the NCAA has no right to legislate the legal performance of attorneys in the performance of their duties. It expands who and when they can can talk to anyone in performing legal business.

The first of these cases was a baseball case where a student used an attorney as an agent

Welcome to UP, Assistant Coach Gregg Swenson.

Coach Swenson has been an assistant at UW and WSU, so in addition to being a good coach, he should certainly know something about Northwest recruiting.....

The baseball program must have gotten a little extra money, Coach Loomis has hired a third coach to his staff, Trey Watt.....
