There are things much more important than basketball...  Please keep Coach Rose in your thoughts.  He is a class guy, and I hope that he does in fact make a full recovery in time for the season to start.

BYU coach Dave Rose undergoes surgery to remove 'cancerous spots'

BYU men's basketball coach Dave Rose underwent surgery on Monday to remove "cancerous spots" found in a recent routine cancer screening, the school announced.

"The surgery went well," said Dr. Courtney Scaife, who performed the procedure at Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City. "I expect him to make a full recovery."

Rose was diagnosed with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor in 2009. But the Houston native made a full recovery -- after his spleen was removed in an emergency surgery -- and had a clean bill of health until this screening showed "cancerous spots." Rose is expected to be ready for the start of practice next month, according to school officials.

BYU won four Mountain West titles under Rose.

He's made six NCAA tournaments in eight years as coach.
