UP VS Texas A&M

Post by aleppiek on Mon Sep 14, 2009 3:45 pm

This thread is inevitable, so I'll go ahead and create it. Glad to see it appears we have a video feed for this week.

Make sure to note the game time

Post by PurpleGeezer on Tue Sep 15, 2009 9:07 pm

For most of the fall, TAMU had the game listed at 5:00 CT. That's also the time UP had the game listed on its website, though they didn't list the time zone. I and others kept speculating it was to schedule the game in the heat, though with the weather we've had, I didn't see any advantage.

Now the game is listed on the TAMU schedule as being at 7:00 CT, which makes it 5:00 Pacific, so if you want to watch the game on line, make sure you start at the right time. The video feeds are usually free from TAMU, and pretty good quality.

There will be a link below the gametracker link on the right

You will need Microsoft's Silverlight Pluggin for your browser, and I think you need to register with CBS College Sports All Access, but it doesn't cost anything. so try it a bit early if you haven't done all that so you are ready when the game starts.

Thanks for the guidance, Geezaldinho. Silverlight is a really great tool for watching streaming video on the Web. It's going to be used to power the NBC site for the Winter Olympics, BTW. Though I had heard that Poopdeck Pappy might be in Texas for both the weeked road games, it turns out he is biding his time to follow the Pilots South when it really matters, at the College Cup. If anyone else can send eyewitness reports from deep in the heart of Texas, we'd be most obliged.

We now have a goal for the game

Post by PurpleGeezer on Thu Sep 17, 2009 10:17 pm

Here's the TAMU pregame writeup.
http://www.aggieathletics.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/091709aad.html

Here's the difference between TAMU and Portland.

If the Aggies win they will be present at Yell Practice on Friday night!

So- if they win they get to yell for the football team?

wow. better than America's most Talented.

The goal for the game? Keep them from attending the yell practice for the next day's football game that night.

Wear your Aggie Ring and receive free admission to the match.

Hmmm, how many fans pay for regular tickets?! (I know we have discussed this here previously; just a rhetorical question).

Note the free video link, in the page Geez linked.

Lets show the Aggies what Pilot soccer is all about.

GAME DAY!

Since most of us will be watching the video stream... feel free to hop into the Pilot Nation Chatbox during the game to discuss with your fellow fans... You can access the Chatbox here or from the PN home page by scrolling down near the bottom of the page and clicking on "Chatbox".

Once the chat window opens, you may need to click on "Log In", and then make sure the "Auto Refresh" box is checked.

See you tonight!

We are the U of P!

I'm going to predict that Tx A&M will key on our "known commodities" and leave Kendra to do some damage tonight.

Kendra impressed the hell out of me when I was out there last weekend. You could be right, Aleppiek.

rimshot Yep, clearly got his mother's looks. Kendra is rounding back into pre-injury form... she could be primed to pump some into the back of the net.

Another take on the game: weather.

According to weather.com, the temperature during the game should be in the low 80's, with humdity around 65%. The somewhat high humidity will make feel like mid-to-upper eighties in Portland.

The A&M players are used to this weather, but it's a bit warm for us. However, a lot better than it might be this time of the year in Texas.

I remember several years ago when the team had an early road trip to Florida. The heat/humidity was awful. My memory is that we came away with a tie and a loss to Florida and Florida State.
