Canada beat the USA u-20's in the CONCACAF qualifying finals 1-0. Mexico beat Costa Rica in the third place game.

The top three teams go to the World Cup, so the game had little real importance. Congrats to Canada, however.

Sophie played for Canada - you can see the goal here First half (in the last couple minutes)

Turns out all of the games are on Canadian youtube

The only catch is that the games are in Spanish - good commentary, too.

Michelle's goal against Mexico is in this link 40 yard run

About 23 minutes in...

Thanks Geez - Michelle's goal was a beaut!!! A clinic on how to push the ball ahead of the defense, then speed past the defenders, dribble in and make a perfect strike to beat the defense and GK.

What a beast!!! And she's a Pilot..... cheers cheers cheers

The hat trick is on two of the youtube clips.
The first is HERE in the first half of the T&T game.
(around the 8th minute and just after the 28th minute, the second on a nice trough ball from Keelin)

Ohara scores two minutes after that.

The other tally was on the second half reel HERE ... about 28 minutes in.

She just steals he ball and runs through the defense. Left foot this time

Canada beats u-20's in final Empty Body language

Post by Geezaldinho Sun Jun 29, 2008 11:51 am

Have a look at the body language of the three teams in the medals ceremony. It's kind of funny.

Canada- This is soo cool! We won! Were the region champs! we're going to kick A** at the World Cup.

Mexico- We're in the World Cup! We got what we came here for! Now let's get ready!

USA- Somebody shot my dog.

Thanks for the clips, Geezer. Michelle looks more dangerous than ever. Twisted Evil

And you're right about the awards ceremony. Canada and Mexico look alive! The U.S. squad looks like they're attending a funeral. I think they probably were convinced that they were going to win the tournament. But like you said, they're in the World Cup...

I am majority Scandinavian and have always considered myself a true descendant of the Viking Norseman.

Therefore, within the power of my heritage leaving me with the authority to do so, I hearby bestow upon you the title of "Honorary Viking". (I'm assuming from your statement that you are not of Norse blood.)

Good luck, my "Viking" friend and Godspeed. Wink

Isn't there an annual Alumuni versus incoming Team...that's played just before practice can officially begin? It may be just before or after they have the Season Ticket holder's BBQ and team preview/introductions? Which should be happening the end of month sometime, I think?

Is the alumni game announced and open to the public? I thought I remembered reading about how physically brutal one of these games got! It was no holds barred...new Pilots versus former Pilots! I remember reading something about Lauren Orlandos-Hansen hard-tackling and taking out one of the newbies. Ouch...that makes for a nice introduction and initiation to Pilot Soccer, huh?

there can only be 21 practice units (days?) before the first game, which is the 23rd. They must take a day off each week. That means no sooner that the 30th of July for the first practice.

Oh Jeez... I think that's right. Here, you try and figure it out

17.02.11 Practice units. In determining the first permissible preseason practice date, an institution shall
count back from its first scheduled contest, one unit for each day beginning with the opening of classes, one unit
for each day classes are not in session in the week of the first scheduled intercollegiate contest and two units for
each other day in the preseason practice period, except that the institution shall not count any units during the
preseason when all institutional dormitories are closed, the institution’s team must leave campus, and practice is
not conducted. (Adopted: 1/10/91 effective 8/1/91; Revised: 1/10/92, 4/14/03)

17.02.11.2 Week. The “week” of the first scheduled intercollegiate contest is defined as the six days,
excluding Sunday, preceding the date of competition (even if one or more of the days fall into different tra-
ditional calendar weeks). (Adopted: 1/10/91 effective 8/1/91)
17.02.11.3 Opening Day of Classes. The “opening day of classes” is defined as the first day of classes as
listed in the member institution’s official catalog. Required freshman orientation is not considered to be the
opening day of classes for the academic year. (Adopted: 1/10/91 effective 8/1/91)
17.02.11.4 First Day of Practice. The first day of practice may be conducted on the day when the last
practice unit occurs, which is determined by counting backward from the day of the first permissible regu-
larly scheduled contest. For example, in women’s volleyball, practice may be held on the day that the 29th 17.02.11 Practice units. In determining the first permissible preseason practice date, an institution shall

Post by KFTC Tue Jul 01, 2008 11:42 pm

No alumni game on the horizon, I've been told. It's usually done in the spring anyway, as one of their 6 NCAA regulated playing dates, and they haven't had one since Spring 2007. Plus scheduling it in August would rule out Sinclair and Lopez, and do you really think Lauren would burn the alumni like that? She'd want to give them the best shot at winning and that means playing in the spring, when there are no national team commitments on the horizon. Smile

Dang...I found the article I was referencing!

....As Tweety Bird said...."I DID..I DID saw a Puddy-Tat!!!!" cyclops

Huie’s squad was countered by fellow senior captain and defending national player of the year Christine Sinclair, who accounted for three goals en route to her team's unofficial victory. The competitiveness displayed during the intrasquad scrimmage was fierce. At one point, an upperclassman put a hard tackle on an unsuspecting freshman which would have drawn a caution from the most liberal of referees. Assistant Coach Lauren Orlandos, playing left back for the purple team, later put another player on the turf in an aerial battle, dislodging three hair clips in the process.

Mrs Hansen is a lean mean killing machine! Don't be mislead by her good looks and engaging smile! She'll "dislodge" anything on your
body if you're not careful!

How many more days?

The NCAA doesn't allow the use of hair clips, so your pernicious rumor is not credible

bobby pins, tongue studs, bracelets of any type or items associated with piercing

I'm shocked you would repeat such things.

I'm sure Lauren had no pernicious intent. She was just being a good citizen on the pitch and enforcing those NCAA rules herself.

The referee swallowed his whistle on this play because 1) he realized he had missed the the violation during the pre-game inspection 2) he was too busy dodging the hairclips Mrs Hansen turned into shrapnel and 3) the sound of rattling teeth and skulls clashing mortified him pale

Now you can see how long to game day each time you open up a page with a post of mine on it.
Just look down at the Go Pilots signature.
then you have to add 18 hours to game TIME.

It's not for the faint of heart, though. I have to stick my head in a bucket of ice cold water each time I look at a certain other to-be-unnamed clock.
