Um, there are a few college football games on at the same time, with some significance.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
A few takeaways from OSU's 78-74 win today:DoubleDipper wrote:2pm LMU @ OSU (Beavers favored by 10, but this will be their first game without starting point guard Jaquori McLaughlin who was granted his release from the team yesterday)
1. LMU is young....the announcers kept talking about LMU being only 1 of 6 teams in the nation with 10 underclassmen (they didn't mention the other five, but a quick look at UP's roster also shows 10 underclassmen).
2. If Rev could have sealed the deal with OSU's Drew Eubanks (4 blocks and 10-10 shooting for 22 points) UP would be a much more competitive team. (In WSU's loss to UCD today, another UP recruit that got away, Robert Franks, scored 32 points).
3. LMU Coach Dunlap about being picked last in the preseason coach's poll, "We're certainly no 10th place team in our league."
4. There were at least for clock problems during the game....pretty obvious that Larry Williams or Barack Obama (or his brother-in-law) bought the system.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
In a game that was a "no doubter" in Seattle, #12 GU demolished a UW team that was coming off an upset of #2 Kansas, 97-70.
(#16 ASU also beat #2 Kansas today in Lawrence, 95-85....the Sun Devils are now 9-0.)

GU looked really good in a dunk-fest in Seattle... the result was never really in doubt. I'm glad that GU and UW are playing each other again.
Speaking of Seattle--anyone heading up for our Saturday game at Key Arena?

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
If you do go, remember that Pilots fans will gather at 5:30 p.m. for a Pilots Pregame at T.S. McHugh’s (21 Mercer St), and walk to KeyArena for the 7:00 p.m. tip-off.PilotNut wrote:Speaking of Seattle--anyone heading up for our Saturday game at Key Arena?
Admission is $20 and includes your game ticket (distributed at pre-game) and appetizers at T.S. McHugh’s. There will also be a no-host bar.
If you already have tickets to the game you can still join the pre-game celebration by purchasing a pre-game only ticket for $10.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
Colorado was favored by 8 over USD this evening, but the Toreros are good!
A winner over the Buffalos, 69-59, the only tough part for those of us watching on TV was having to endure listening to Bill Walton or use the mute button.
Hmm, does Walton work the majority of his games only in states where marijuana is legal....sometimes seems so.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
I'm sure we could find out. Luke's godfather sits in front of me at every Pilots home game. Bill does have quite the list of injuries so it doesn't seem unreasonable.

Oh absolutely, I once heard him say that he's had 37 or 38 different orthopedic surgeries and has been in extreme pain since he was a teenager due to his various injuries.dholcombe wrote:Bill does have quite the list of injuries so it doesn't seem unreasonable.
I don't think Walton is much over 65 but when we saw him at PK-80 he looked much older than that.
Disabled military veterans throughout America are helping to break down the barriers against the use of medical marijuana to combat pain, and I'd be very surprised if Bill were not using it for that purpose.
Denver is apparently strongly considering allowing the first pot-themed coffee shop that will allow public consumption of recreational marijuana. Only vaping and edibles will be allowed (no smoking) because there is no patio for patrons to use.
If approved, the establishment will be called, "The Coffee Joint."

USF overwhelmed UC-Davis tonight, 74-61.
Former Pilot Colin Russell had 1 turnover and 1 foul in 2 minutes of play for the Aggies. Always loved his energy at UP, but it just never translated into performance.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
Obviously the most exciting game was in Spokane....UND. had and then lost it. Favored by 30, GU was often befuddled on both ends of the court. It was 69-69 at the end of regulation, and then GU scored 11 consecutive points to begin the overtime and held on.Sound Voltex wrote:Belmont 79, Pepperdine 62

USD was playing at home and favored by 10, but just like UP and GU, they were coming off a week of finals.
The other games went pretty much as predicted, except that BYU, favored by 3, had an easy time of it defeating Utah.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
Easy to see why the LMU head coach says, "we're not going to finish last in the WCC," as picked to do by the coaches.
LMU led UW with just under 3 minutes to go, but UW's size was just too much and the Lions lost, 80-78.
In the other WCC action, USF outscored Stanford in the second half in Palo Alto, but the Cardinal prevailed, 71-59.
