Impressive resume, indeed! Twisted Evil The men's program has been sorely in need of some fresh blood, and it would appear they have it.

Congrats to Coach Carlin-Voigt, and the UP Athletic Dept. for getting this done! It would be great to see this program return to prominence.

Great hire.

From the little I know, they had to go after him pretty hard.

Hope it works out.

Hey Geez, that's you in the avatar, right? Cut yourself shaving?

Looks like a truly great, maybe phenomenal, hire for the Pilots.

Good article from the Portland Tribune today....not just a rehash:

Saw KGW Channel 8 on campus interviewing Coach Carlin-Voigt....

From the Tribune article:
Coming from UCLA, Carlin-Voigt borrows philosophically from the late John Wooden, the Bruins’ legendary former basketball coach.

“He didn’t preach winning — he preached about the process, and about being a good teammate and finding a way to reach your full potential and competitive greatness. How you do anything is how you do everything,” says Carlin-Voigt. “The little details matter to me.”
Sounds a lot like Rev's philosophy.  They should get along well.

The Trib article also mentions an existing relationship between Carlin-Voigt (is that pronounced "Voyt"?) and Caleb Porter... it sounds like they talk on the phone with some regularity. The more the Pilots and Timbers can work together the better, IMO (of course by navigating the myriad of NCAA rules surrounding this). Playing a match at Providence Park would be pretty sweet.

The coach is a "thief."

I think we're really going to like Coach Carlin-Voigt; I can almost guarantee the student-athletes will!

Nice video interview....still haven't heard him pronounce his name.  Smile

Maybe he'll be at the Pilot Club/game tonight....if not, he's probably out recruiting.

It's Carlin, like in George, and it's Voit, like in the sporting goods store and ball seller....

Welcome Coach Carlin-Voigt Empty Catamount on the Staff

Post by DoubleDipper Mon Jun 13, 2022 2:11 pm

Coach Carli-Voigt has added a Catamount to his coaching staff, Brad Cole.

I guess he replaces former Timber, Ben Zemanski, which is too bad because Ben's wife sat next to me at the games and gave me a behind-the-scenes look at UP Men's Soccer.  Crying or Very sad
