2014-15 Schedule
Haven't been searching for the entire schedule, but saw today that UW will be coming to the Chiles Center on Sunday afternoon, December 7. It should be a good one....Coach Sorenson is a UW Alum and Coach Osmer was the UW DBO the past thee seasons.

Re: 2014-15 Schedule
Here's the link to the Women's Basketball schedule:
http://www.portlandpilots.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=302
IMO it's a better schedule than the men's team's schedule, with home games against Oregon, Portland St., Montana, and Washington, with a road games against Oregon St., Cal St. Northridge, Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Boise St. and a tournament in Reno.
It's going to be tough playing PSU and Montana immediately after finals, but the excellent schedule should prepare them well for WCC play which begins at home against USD and BYU on 12/27 and 12/29.

I noticed after the exhibition game on November 11th they don't come back home until December 5th. Having their first 5 games on the road will test them right away.

Re: 2014-15 Schedule
The first official practice of the Coach Sorenson era is in the books.....expectations are high!
I noticed there was a newcomer we hadn't heard about before, Maddie Ward, from Mullen High School in Golden, CO. She's a 5-10 guard....but I know next to nothing about her except that she was named to her all-conference 2nd team and averaged around 11 ppg in her senior year on a pretty good team.
So that makes 3 freshmen on the team: Ward; Sara Zaragoza, 6-4; and Ashley Gray, 6-1.

Re: 2014-15 Schedule
Spent some time watching practice today......
The skill level is improved over last year, but what is markedly improved is the sprit, attitude and willingness to go to the floor for loose balls. For the last 14 years I've thought the women's team was too soft and lacked aggressiveness....that is changing under Coach Sorenson.
The team has a pretty ambitious schedule this year, so it remains to be seen how they'll perform, but I firmly believe they'll be no worse than 5th in the league that picked them to finish 7th this year.

DD: are you able to comment on how our resident Spaniard/Visigoth appears to be doing so far? Likely to see playing time this year?

I really like her size and her conditioning.....much better than we seen from foreign-born female players in the past....and depending on the type of lineup Coach Sorenson decides to go with, she's really the only post player besides Cassie Thompson.
If I were to guess, Thompson will get a ton of minutes and Sara Zaragoza will be gradually worked into the lineup. Her size alone will be a great asset, but D1 ball is much more physical than she is used to, so she'll probably take a thumping for awhile before she begins dishing it out herself and having an impact on the game.

Re: 2014-15 Schedule
The #21 Beavers blew out our Pilots tonight in Corvallis....a tough first game, and the schedule doesn't get a lot easier going forward.
The good news today was the LOI signing of three recruits in the early signing period.
