Las Vegas - 2014
The Pilots finished alone in 6th place during the WCC regular season and will face #3 Pacific at noon on Friday, March 7 in Las Vegas.
If the Pilots were to win, they would have Saturday and Sunday off, and would play on Monday at 2:30.....probably against BYU.
All of the women's tournament games will be streamed on W.tv, and all will be telecast on BYUtv except the Championship game, which will be on ESPNU.

Re: Las Vegas - 2014
It's Tournament time.....anything can happen:
Pepperdine finished the WCC season in 10th place with a record of 1-17. The Waves came into today's game against Santa Clara after losing 15 straight games.....
So what do they do, they grab 20 offensive boards and had 16 second chance points to beat Santa Clara, 80-74.
It might have helped that PU's entire cheer squad was at the game for the noon start....and SCU seemed to have only parents in attendance.

Re: Las Vegas - 2014
In probably the best women's game I've seen in a couple of years, USF knocked off LMU with a double put-back with one second left on the clock after a very athletic steal 14 seconds earlier by the same player.
Both teams were 6-12 entering the contest, but USF now moves on to play #1 Gonzaga tomorrow after PU plays #2 BYU.
Both teams had their full cheer squads....
Next women's game.: #6 UP vs. #3 UOP at noon tomorrow.

Re: Las Vegas - 2014
Pacific just had too many very good athletes for the Pilots today. UP was always within striking range in their 84-72 loss, but down 10-0 at the beginning of the game was just too much to makeup over the next 35 minutes.
End of an era on the Bluff with Coach Sollar’s retirement after 28 years at UP….the question is, “who does UP bring in to takeover?”
I’m leaning towards an entire new staff. When Kelly Graves was an assistant at UP the Pilots soared because he’s a very good coach and recruiter….10 straight WCC titles at GU is an example of that.
I think it’s time AD Leykam finds the next Kelly Graves….it could be a woman this time, but I sincerely hope gender does not play a role in the decision. Go for the best young fast-burner who will instill aggressive and physical play in some athletic recruits!

In probably my last dance team post of the season, the Pilots were well represented today by both the UP Dance Team and the Purple Pride Pep Band...

I'm told the band advanced to the next round, to play for LMU tomorrow. Like Phil always said, "The band always wins."

Ha-ha, not the first time the PPPB has made a little extra cash while traveling at WCC expense and playing some tunes.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:I'm told the band advanced to the next round, to play for LMU tomorrow. Like Phil always said, "The band always wins."
All they do is change shirts.....
