Re: welcome your Hillsboro Hops
I would think many more hops are grown in their former home town than in their new home town.

Re: welcome your Hillsboro Hops
With the slate wiped clean and the NWL into its second half, Hillsboro is tied with all three other South Division teams at 1-1 (after going a league-worst 11-27 in the first half). Salem-Keizer won the South first half with a 23-15 record.
You might want to head down to Keizer for today's match-up as the Hops go against former UP standout Chris Johnson (3-3, 2.54).

Chris was a 17th round draft-choice of the SF Giants in 2012, as I recall.

Re: welcome your Hillsboro Hops
Couldn't make it down there tonight, but Chris had another good start tonight: 6.0 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K. Didn't get a decision as the Volcanoes lost 1-0.
He's done really well in his second pro year. Don't pay much attention to his 3-3 record because wins are about the most useless pitching stat (yes, really). What the Giants will like is his 47 SOs against just 5 BBs in 52 innings (FIVE walks! One every two starts!
) and .199 opponents' avg. He's doing his job, getting guys out. He just needs some runs from the offense.
