Timbers' Season Opener
Kasey Keller is in the booth tonight for ESPN, for the Timbers' home opener. The crowd looks to be in mid-season form.

Re: Timbers' Season Opener
Timbers win, 3-1! The first 55 minutes did not look good... but the Timbers came back from a 0-1 deficit to dominate the final 35 minutes.
51' PHI's Gomez (own goal).
54' Baptiste (assist Jewsbury).
66' Boyd (assist Alhassan). Boyd gets his first MLS goal on a beautiful header from Alhassan's cross from just outside the box.
76' Alhassan (Jewsbury).

Re: Timbers' Season Opener
I gotta say...
I know it's the biggest bakery on earth. They probably own Microsoft or something.
But really, how do you expect a team to win when they have "Bimbo" written across their chests?

On another note, Kawulok didn't play but was in tonight's 18-man squad.

Re: Timbers' Season Opener
Just arrived home from the game -- DRENCHED!
This was not my first Timbers game, but certainly my first time ever standing with the Timbers Army. Thank you Echo Squad for the beer and the hospitality! What a great atmosphere!!
My wife was asking if Philadelphia had lost a bet or something to have to wear BIMBO on their shirts. No one seemed to know, and no one seemed to care.
I’ve attended a lot of Premier League English soccer matches, and believe me, you don't want to stand with the rowdies, BUT this was different. All in good fun and in good taste too.
(Henry) Merritt Paulson III for mayor!

DD, took the words right out of my mouth. Paulson for Mayor. I was walking around Jeld-Wen before heading into the game totally shaking my head in disbelief..."is this Portland? In March? Far to many people having fun for that to be possible."

"Mayor" Paulson with Kris Boyd:There's something fundamentally Portland about the experience here (at Jeld-Wen). Soccer and all. Timbers Army included. The pouring rain, the chants, the guy wearing a Timbers cap on top of his rain hat, the standing for hours, and the fact that the sport alone is enough to carry the evening. It's so Portland here that a Timbers game now feels as essential to quickly understanding this city as a visit to Powell's Books and Pioneer Courthouse Square and the Rose Garden at Washington Park.
Maybe more, because there are fragments of Portland all over the place (at Jeld-Wen).
