10/9 vs LMU [R]
Pilots drop another one at home, allowing the Lions to come back twice. UP 2-3 LMU. The Pilots controlled possession and had the lion's share (ewwww . . . pun not intended) of opportunities, but in the end couldn't convert. They did force the LMU keeper into an acrobatic save or two in the final stanza, but sailed some great chances just high.
The loss drop the men to 0-4-0 (W-L-D) in conference play. Combined with the women, our cumulative WCC record is now 0-5-0. When was the last time that happened, if ever?

I feel like I watch the same game almost every time. They play well, probably don't deserve to lose, but give up easy goals and can't punch in their own. It's getting to be extremely frustrating and disappointing from a fans perspective

The players are good enough. Most of their games have been pretty close. The defenders are good but they make basic mistakes that lead to easy goals. They have fine playmakers but the finishing isn't there. It's hard to figure out.UPPilots wrote:I feel like I watch the same game almost every time. On two of their three goals today, our defender slipped on the pitch, allowing the player with the ball space to attack. The resultant realignment of the remaining defenders racing to cover allowed attacking players to streak in and get an unmarked look at the cross. Bang bang.

They do seem to be playing well enough to not be 0 & 4 in conference. Some better luck and finishing and it is easy to imagine 4 & 0. Scoring from open play has been non-existent. Hopefully the breaks start falling our way and the results come. The games are generally entertaining and none of the opponents have looked unbeatable. Hopefully the fans hang in there.
