The Big 12...
Reports that TCU has been invited to the Big 12. What does this mean for BYU and the Big East? Thoughts?

Re: The Big 12...
That article is silent on BYU, interestingly, with Louisville and WVU listed as the next 2 likely candidates for expansion... Hmmm.

Re: The Big 12...
A year ago Texas and A&M had no interest in TCU as part of the Big12
Looks like the only question is which conference will fold first. The BigEast isn't looking very viable right now either.

Re: The Big 12...
Is it true that Baylor made the cut for the original B12 instead of TCU? I heard that somewhere.

Yep. Then-Texas Governor Ann Richards was a Baylor alum and wouldn't sign off on the Texas public institutions joining the Big 12 unless Baylor was allowed to tag along. Since then, Baylor has gone 18-108 in Big 12 football games.

Ah, thanks, I knew it was something like that. This is the root of the bitterness between Baylor and TCU, right?Rob's Jacket wrote:pilotram wrote:Is it true that Baylor made the cut for the original B12 instead of TCU? I heard that somewhere.

... and SMU and Houston and Rice. At the time, of all the private schools in the SWC that deserved to be in a major conference, Baylor probably deserved it least.

Re: The Big 12...
The SEC admitted Mizzou by a unanimous vote of its membership. They follow TAMU's entry last month.Mizzou has been in the big12/Big8 since 1907.
Looks like the Big09 is in a world of hurt. They need to find another team to fulfill its tv contracts.

Bye bye MWC. Big12 and Big East are going to sit down and have you for dinner!
Can't wait to watch my Rams once again become "the biggest sac in the WAC."

That would give them 9. Nebraska, Colorado, A&M, and Missouri are gone or will be gone.
Really I don't care anymore. Let the big schools beat on each other as they all try to get paid.

Re: The Big 12...
Well!!! Bring in BYU and even it out at 10! They are a much better choice than Louisville in my opinion (only good for basketball).
