Scouting Stanford
I would first like to say how much of a pleasure it is reading you alls posts and appreciate the time and effort you all put into this amazing website! I can only wish FSU had a message board specifically for womens soccer. Your fan base/support is second to none.
I am wondering what your thoughts are on Stanford? I know they are very, very good and have explosive players. I am curious to how you think FSU can beat Stanford. And before you ask, yes all the starters will be in California tonight .

Re: Scouting Stanford
I don't know about FSU, but I think Press is a major difference maker, almost (but not quite) like Christine Sinclair in her ability to take over a game. FSU will need to mark her tightly, but then Stanford has talent at every other position as well.

Re: Scouting Stanford
Stanford has a very varied attach. They like to attack up the wings to the end line, then bring it along the end line towards the middle, then cross it back into the box. But, if you put too many players defending on the wings, they'll vary their attack and push ball from the sides into the deeper middle before reaching the end line. They have some excellent shooters in the mid-field. Overall, you'll see a quite varied and highly skilled attack.
Their defensive weakness, in my opinion, is their mid-field holding the ball when put under heavy pressure, and their right-side defense. Their keeper is ok, but not great. If you put on heavy pressure, you'll do better. If you give their mid-fielders room, they'll kill you as they set up the Stanford attack.

OM Gosh! We got our butts handed to us. Worst loss in years! Well we were without our top two scorers from last year and they are back next year along with 9 starters so I guess Ill get excited for next season!

Re: Scouting Stanford
It looks like Stanford's year...again. I don't see anyone beating them in the Final Four.

Only one conference has multiple teams with a Cup to their names. Who besides Geezer and I can name it?SoreKnees wrote:Again? They've never won in women's soccer...
It may have "looked" like Stanford's year last year too. Kind of like UCLA sometimes thinks it's "their" year.
