30 man World Cup roster announced
Bob Bradley announced the roster for the World Cup training camp. Steve Cherundolo and Heath Pearce are on it.
Charlie Davies was deemed not ready and was left off.
Conor Casey is also on the "notables left off" list..
The roster needs to be pared down to 23 players by the end of the month.

Re: 30 man World Cup roster announced
Meanwhile, Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez have played their way in with their recent form.
Now I know Adu is a name casual fans have heard of, but does he really go on the "notables left off" list when no one I know of was making a case for him?

Re: 30 man World Cup roster announced
I'm with you on that.
Riquelme, Cambiasso, Zanetti, G. Milito, Gago, and Abondanzierri would make the nucleus of a Team to get to the quarters all by themselves.
God, I hope the fat one didn't just blow their chances. Maybe the ones he did select are good enough, and some of the young ones, like Colochinni ,show promise, but it's pretty amazing who got left off.

The fat one? "Grande" can have different meanings. Maybe something got lost in translation.Purplegeezer wrote:I'm with you on that.

On second thought, put a jacket on him and he looks a little like a penguin.

I rest my case.
There's no doubt, though... Either D10S will come out as a genius, or as a complete idiot. Either way, it's good for Argentina in the long run. It will be over with.

As great as he was...he's still a cheat (besides the drug problems) in my books.
I can never forgive him for the "Hand of God" incident.

Re: 30 man World Cup roster announced
Funny how the Anglopyles remember that, but forget the refereeing assignments and calls in the '66 world cup in England (AKA "el robo del siglo")?
besides, it's irrelevant whining - it didn't cost the match. - the goal of the century 5 minutes later did. final score 2-0. and there should have been a red card against England on the tackle on the strike. (dangerous play from behind, no ball. But there's a history of Brits not getting called for that in the WC)
At least Madona was trying to score. He didn't stomp on anyone's nuts when they were on the ground.

Re: 30 man World Cup roster announced
I'm a bit surprised by the Conor Casey move since he was really key to one of the goals against Honduras that sent us to the cup. I'm sure there are more technical players and faster players, but, he definitely does not duplicate the talent of other players on the roster. I'd rather have one physical guy like Casey capable of getting dirty, knocking over a goalie and heading a ball into the net (like he did against Honduras).
I guess it will be like any other Cup, the moves made by Bradley will be less scrutinized if we have success.
