A good test for the improving squad, let's see if they can break their 3-game losing streak in the series!
About BYU
Thursday’s game with the Pilots is the first for BYU since a 61-48 win at Utah State on Dec. 19. Junior guard Mindy Nielson scored 12 points during the win and is leading the Cougars in scoring this season with a 13.0 per game mark. She’s the only Cougar averaging double figures in points, while junior forward Coriann Wood is the team’s top rebounder (6.4 rpg). Jeff Judkins is in his ninth year as head coach and he has his team outscoring opponents 70.2-56.2. BYU was 18-11 (8-8 Mountain West) last year and returned 12 letterwinners and three starters.

BYU 69 Portland's University 57
Good news: The Pilots went 16-18 from the line, drew 14 fouls, and kept fighting despite being down as much as 18.
Bad news: they turned the ball over 19 times leading to 23 BYU points, forced only 8, only 7 assists, 3-10 from behind the arc, couldn't cut the lead to less than 6.
The Pilots conclude the non-conference or as the BYU radio team referred to it 'pre season', Sunday @ 2 against the Seattle Redhawks, currently 3-14 with their wins coming over Evergreen State, Pacific Lutheran, and UW-Milwaukee with losses against St. Mary's and Boise State.
1-1 on this road trip with two to go, here's hoping for a good start to 2010!
