They tied 2-2 yesterday in Spokane. They meet here on Sunday at 2:30 after the women's game. I am definitely staying for this one. In other rivalries, Liverpool plays Man United Sunday as well.

Re: Pilots-GU
Wow! Pilots crush GU 5-1.... with reserves playing a significant portion of the 2nd half.
Shots (On goal): UP 19 (11), GU 10 (3).
Ryan Luke and Jarad vanSchaik each with 2 goals, Joe Sleven with one as well.
Great start to the 2nd half of the WCC season!

Re: Pilots-GU
TOTAL COMPLETE DOMINATION.
Our guys played like women. Here that's a huge compliment. Great passing, fast aggressive pace, players looking for each other....
If you guys left early, you missed a great one.
You also missed what I think might have been the dirtiest performance I've ever seen from a soccer team. If the Gonzaga coach is trying to coach coming in to the legs and always being late to the play, he's doing a great job.
Those guys need to search their souls and maybe seek counseling with a Priest.

Re: Pilots-GU
I don't even think it was as close as the score indicated. Our boys played brilliantly. Gonzaga did seem to rack up a lot of fouls, although that might be more attributable to deft footwork than foul play.
I was sitting next to a bunch of Zag fans, and they seemed irate (as did their players on the field) late in the second half when one of the Zag players was taken down in the box. Looked like a textbook slide tackle to me, with no doubt that our player got ball first. It was in full view of both the head and associate official. Not sure what they saw. What a bunch of self-entitled whiners.

And does anybody have any idea why Collen Warner didn't see any action?

Re: Pilots-GU
He got hit hard in Overtime at Gonzaga and had to leave the game.
From the last game's box score.
BTW, I though Jarad did a great job in the middle this game. I mean besides the 2 goals and 2 assists....the guy was everywhere and ran the team great.

[92:47] POR substitution: CHROSTEK, Drew for WARNER, Collen.
Warner shaken up earlier, re-enters with no sub, then leaves for sub

Re: Pilots-GU
Second that. I forgot to mention in the women's thread to please, please stay and give the men a try. They really play an attractive style.Geezaldinho wrote:If you guys left early, you missed a great one.
I think my favorite goal was Ryan Luke's, from a beautiful through ball by Ricardo Carillo, who's only a freshman. Ricardo also took a great free kick which Joe Sleven finished for his first college goal. Also agree about Jarad's fine peformance.
Names and shame: James Partee, you are about to get some well-deserved time off. I hope you use it to work on tackling legally.Geezaldinho wrote:You also missed what I think might have been the dirtiest performance I've ever seen from a soccer team. Tim Muravez, so you didn't get the penalty you wanted. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Put your shin guard back in and play. You look ridiculous running around with it in your hand.

Yes, yes! This game (and the men's team in general) is worth staying for.Geezaldinho wrote:If you guys left early, you missed a great one.
Great for Joe to get his first goal, but this was botched defense by the Zags. Ricardo' corner went to the feet of a Zag defender who whiffed on it. The ball bounced to Joe, who had an easy time popping it in--header, if I remember correctly.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote: Ricardo also took a great free kick which Joe Sleven finished for his first college goal.

Congrats to Ryan Luke for being named the Wcc player of the week.
That gives UP a clean sweep this week.

Here's Highlights of the men's game against GU, for those of you that let a little rain thwart your chances to see 5 Pilot goals.

Re: Pilots-GU
I chatted with Collen on campus a couple of days ago. He got banged up in the game at Gonzaga, and there was concern about pushing him back into the lineup too quickly. He had just had some tests done, and is cleared to play this weekend.VillaGorilla wrote:And does anybody have any idea why Collen Warner didn't see any action?

Re: Pilots-GU
Great highlights! I love how our guys don't mess around when they are inside of the 18...just a one touch shot with no trapping going on. There's a lot of potential there.

Re: Pilots-GU
I know this is a little late, but I think that was the best men's game I have ever seen. I wish they would have shown a little more of the build-up on the second goal. It was beautiful.
The guys moved the ball around and worked really well as a team. I was really impressed by the toehead out on the left wing (yeah, I'm too lazy to look up his name). He was very feisty and has some wonderful ball skills. The midfield controlled the game and the pace well and worked together with the forwards and the defence.
This team looks much better than the one that saw Conor Casey up front and booted the ball and waited for him to score a goal.
