One never wants to see or hear about injuries like this to any player, let alone one of the best. After seeing Megan and Rachel on the ground within the past few years I cringe whenever anyone goes down hard and stays a while. But then Megan came back, remarkably, so it is possible to rise to the very top again, after even two serious knee injuries in her case..

UNC lost Nikki Washington to an ACL last week to, sounds like it was a bad week for injuries. She is going to have surgery next week.

Ow, Canada. Lang's injury is a blow to the Canada national team also. Christine Sinclair needs and deserves high-quality players like Lang alongside her to balance the attack.

My most vivid memory of Kara Lang was 2 years ago when the Pilots played the Bruins at UCLA. My daughter and I were in SoCal and were able to attend the night game at Drake Stadium. Kara blasted a shot from long range early in the game that got by Kelsey. As we all know, it's not often that Kelsey gets beat by a 30-yarder. Kara also scored the game-winner in overtime when Kelsey misplayed a bouncing shot that hit her arm as she was kneeling for the ball and dribbled into the net.

Here's a clip from a story about the game on the Bruins web page:
"After missing all of last year with a knee injury, including the first seven matches of this season while at the Women's World Cup in China, Bruin forward Kara Lang came back to the college game in impressive fashion Friday evening, scoring both UCLA goals in a 2-1 overtime upset of No. 2 Portland."

Mine is when she played here in the Women's World Cup on the Canadian National Team as a 16 year old. I hoped that Christine would convince her to come to UP.

Mine was how Emily Michaelson handled her in the 2005 NCAA Championship game.
