OK, for head to head match-ups we have:

Forwards: Enyeart, R. Rapinoe, and Foxhoven
vs. Lang, Cheney, and Leroux.
very slight edge to Bruins

Midfield: Reed, M. Rapinoe, Burk, and Winters
vs. Dimartino, Calvert, M. Zerboni, and C. MacKechnie
even, or slight edge to Pilots

Defense: Sweeney, Schmidt, Olivier, and Tsao
vs. Hardy, Barnes, Wilmoth, and Dutton
edge to Bruins

Keeper: Davis vs. Thompson
edge to Pilots

Intangibles:
Home field: big edge to Pilots
coaching and preparation: edge to Pilots
recent history: Bruins for trend, Pilots for revenge

I dunno -

Sophie plays outside sometimes for the Canada WNT. you may see her there to counter Lang.

Nicely done Harry. I think your matchups are right on. But in light of Geezers observation, I am currently sourcing my local contacts as to why Erin Hardy didn't play UCSB. Not having her in the back line is a big loss for the Bruins if she is hurt.

Also, didn't I read somewhere that the dreaded, deaf, dumb and blind J. Johnson was banned from reffing?

Heck, I doubt they have ever had BBQ beef sandwiches at their games! Wait, we don't have those anymore do we? We still have Kettlecorn though. I'm good friends with the Kettlecorn man 'Carl'. Please support him while you are at the game.

I will once again be watching online and popping in the chat room to see if anyone's there.

Once again, if anyone is recording this game and can burn it on DVD, I am willing to pay.

I just happened to be at the University this afternoon. Men and women were both going through last minute prep. The grounds crew were combing the field, the dome and the "P" are painted....

Looks Like we're ready for National TV. Better polish up that Wisconsin cowbell..

Se you folks at the Men's game tonight - should be a good one!

It was a decent crowd tonight, especially in the student section. I wouldn't want to be UCLA, walking into a packed stadium tomorrow, especially the players who haven't been here before.

Wish I could be there, but I'll be at another packed house tomorrow night--the one in Eugene! cheers

That "P" on Chiles is very nice. I noticed they've also painted parts of the interior of the building, purple.

I noticed that when it got dark, you couldn't see it any longer. A single spot from the center light pole would light it up. Looks great otherwise.

Looks like something to add to the wishlist. (To go along with your fur-lined seats and the plasma replay screens in your canopy.) tongue

I already have the fur lined seats. They are only a little extra. Didn't you see that option in your season ticket package?

The Plasma screen hanging off the Canopy is definitely ahead of the spot on my list.

The CSN broadcast is regional - you're right. I do think it's possible to purchase it outside the region if you have one of those cable plans I can't afford, and I think the same video feed will be online. I know of folks from as far away as DC and Pennsylvania who will be tuning in for that.

You're right, though. It's not on Fox or any of the ESPN variants. The first chance people across the Nation will get a chance to see the "P" will be when the UP men play UW on FSC sept. 12.

I hate saying officiating wins or loses games...but that was some of the worst I've seen. I'll provide some photographic evidence later. The entire Pilot Club tent was yelling at the linesman in front of them more than once.

UCLA's goal looked like it was just broken coverage. Great game, should have been about 2-1.

Agreed. The officiating was terrible. Fans on both sides of the field were screaming at the officials a number of times.

From where I was sitting, it did look like a breakdown on UCLA's goal. I want to see it again on Comcast tomorrow. My angle wasn't great.

All that being said, it was a great game, and Portland had some chances. It was nice to see Sophie back in limited minutes.

pms,
agreed on all counts. the officiating was terrible an there was a break down on ucla's goal in my opinion. what happened on the goal as i saw it was michelle olivier got caught 'watching' cassie running with demartino an let chaney run by her. an that is not a knock on michelle [can we call her mo?], i have have been very, very impressed with her. FANatic started a thread asking if keelin has a twin. i thought for sure he meant how much michelle plays like keelin...an looks like her as well.
over all, i like how the ladies competed an left it all on the field. i saw well after the game what lookd like sophie trying to console an inconsolable enyeart. i think she took this loss really hard.
cant wait for usc! its going to be a good year an im still very excited if not more so!

Frustrating game. Pilots deserved a better result.

On the goal McCuskie lost possession to DiMartino, who fed Cheney, who scored. Freshman mistake. Unfortunate because McCuskie played pretty well.

UCLA is a good team: but nasty. Big, fast and very physical. 20 fouls to 8 by UP. Although the referee missed three possible penalties and carded Olivier and Nicholson, despite the persistent fouling by UCLA.

Davis was fine. Tsao and Sweeney both played well. McCuskie did relatively well too considering that UCLA played three up, and they were Lauren Cheney, Kara Lang, and Sydney Leroux - a highly touted freshman. Pick of the defense was Michelle Olivier. This gal is the real deal folks. Quick, strong, calm, plays a good positive ball out of defense. A star in the making.

Winters was strong in midfield. Burk and Reed were OK. Megan R showed flashes of her brilliance, but is still playing herself back to form. Aggressive but gave the ball away more than one would hope for.

Enyeart did OK but we have high standards for her. Did not get a shot. Foxhoven impressed me. She taken down three times in the penalty area and could easily have gotten the call on any of the plays. Chased people down on defense.

We saw a little of Chandhoke, Schmidt, Nicholson. Kendra showed some pace and Sophie looked promising. Rachel Rapinoe was tough as always bit seemed to me to have a hard time with the pace of the game.

Would hope to see more of Kendra and Sophie on Monday. USC game is another chance to see how good our team can be this year.

Tonight was disappointing because they did not deserve to lose.
