Jinxed again
Sad news coming out of Santa Clara.
SCU has already lost three starters to season long injuries. Poach and Angeli (both missed last year as well) have gone down and now Lewis is out. That's two of the three starting midfielders and the starting central defender.
This is really sad, both for the program and for the players. It looks like it'll be another uphill struggle for the broncos this year.
Here's hopes for a speedy recovery.

Wow,
there must be something in the WCC water. Seems like neither of us have been totally healthy in several years.

Re: Jinxed again
That's a classy response to a top rival's serious problems, geezer.
If one can get past the competitiveness in our society and see things from a humanity standpoint, it's a real tragedy to the three injured young women, their families, the team and coaches, and the program.
In the men's football/basketball world of fan forums, some "boneheads" would be happy and make insulting, sometimes very cruel posts about a situation like this. (I know I've mentioned this before).
I don't know if it's women's sports that attract classier fans or if Pilot Nation is just unique. But how nice that our leading poster would start a topic with that kind of class.
Just first rate, geez. Just first rate.

Jinxed Again
I having been following these posts for a long time and I admire the sophistication and dedication of the loyalty of the fans/posters. There is information here about the team that simply cannot be found anywhere else on the web. I felt the need to join to add my dissapointment with the loss of Amanda, Jordan and Courtney to the Santa Clara squad. I have met all the women and their parents and all are really great people and my heart goes out for all of them. I am not sure, but I think this is Courtney's second year with a serious injury.
Don't mistake my empathy for SC players as a disloyalty for the Pilots; its just I would feel better about winning against a full strength SC team than one that is not at its best. In any event. they have enough players left that they should not be overlooked. As has been discussed extensively on this board the team's overall schedule will be crucial to getting a home stand in the playoffs. I saw the Florida State game last year as well as the UCLA game in Los Angeles and it looked like the ladies were a little tired getting up and down the field in the second half and overtimes of the UCLA game (what other game did an opponent put 14 shots on frame)? I think hosting at Merlo would be an intangible that could hopefully send them to the finals this year.
Greetings and Adieu

Welcome to the club, I think you'll find we are a good bunch. I think that we all feel very similar to your viewpoint. I personally would rather see an amazingly well played game and come out of it with a tie, than a blowout in ugly fashion. I do not for a second think that we can sleep on anyone in the WCC these days. With the emergence of USD last year, and the recruiting classes coming into a few other WCC schools, I think that we are going to have some battles on our hands.
I do think that we will be a bit deeper this year, at least until our U-20's take off, and barring injury. Which should help us when we end up in the type of game we had against UCLA.
Once again, welcome!
