Grier Takes Oregon State Job [EDIT: No He Doesn't!] Empty Grier Takes Oregon State Job [EDIT: No He Doesn't!]

Not totally officialy yet, but seems legit:

Nice knowing you, Bill! Wow... once more new coach in the WCC. The big question... does USD promote assistant Bill Carr, as is usually done in situations like this, or do they do a search of their own and revamp the entire staff.

Carr has been around the WCC for a while, but I bet Ky Snyder (USD's AD) will want to shoot higher than that. Bad news for USF and LMU, really... USD is a much more attractive job than those two at this point, given their roster and NCAA success.

My, what a day of news!

It seems odd that Grier would bolt after just 1 season. But I suppose the chance to resurrect a historic program is hard to pass up... and he is from the area...

I am going to reserve further judgement/comment until a reliable source can confirm this.

There was a post on the GU Board from a USD fan that stated that the USD Hoops Banquet is *tonight*. Could make for a very interesting evening.... No

Grier Takes Oregon State Job [EDIT: No He Doesn't!] Empty Biiy Grier

Post by upsailor Tue Apr 01, 2008 7:32 pm

One reason Grier may be interested in the position at OSU is because his parents live in Canby and they tounge in cheek lamented his taking the San Diego job due to the distance from Canby.
After San Deigo's season they probably forgot all about that.

I overheard some women talking about the OSU job at the last women's spring game. They said the OSU job is the assistant's job for the taking because OSU in not willing to spend much money on the program.

Not happening--check the General Sports thread for details...and it will not be the OSU assistant taking the job.
