The AWK system is strictly results driven, using conference results and NCAA Tournament results, with conference "weighting" based on conference NCAA Tournament results.  It thus doesn't consider the more subjective items such as recruiting, player development, or tactical skill (which is another of Garrett's strengths).  One could make the case that the combination of these items should show up in results.

AWK also does not account for other items that might affect results such as program budgets.  And, being results driven, it does not consider items such as player retention, graduation rates, etc.

I guess you could say that if you think coaches should be judged by results, it's a way to use results to rank coaches. I don't know, in that context, of anyone having come up with anything better.

Thanks for explanation of the rating criteria. I have not had the time to go to Chris site and review the details.
