Re: LMU Notes
Well, it wouldn't be the first time a school has stashed a player at a cc with a promise of a scholarship in the future.

Re: LMU Notes
For sure, but I doubt that is the case here as new head coach Mike Dunlap has been away from the college game for quite some time.PurpleGeezer wrote:Well, it wouldn't be the first time a school has stashed a player at a cc with a promise of a scholarship in the future.
As I recall, he was the Adelaide 36ers Head Coach in the mid-90's, so he's probably got some good Aussie connections.

Hmm, it would appear Coach Dunlap will have only HIS guys on the team before too long. It's now being reported that redshirt sophomore wing C.J. Blackwell will also transfer from LMU.

Re: LMU Notes
When will the madness stop!!
It is now being reported that All-WCC Freshman Gabe Levin is departing the team and will transfer.
I thought Levin was a huge contributor in his first year at LMU, averaging over 7 rebounds and over 11 points.
Except for the graduation of Anthony Ireland, I think the loss of Levin is the biggest blow to the Lions to date this offseason.

Re: LMU Notes
Gabe Levin narrowed his choices to Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Marquette, and today chose the latter, Marquette.
One can probably get a good education at Marquette, but IMO the other two would have looked much better on his resume'.

From May, 2013:
In what has become a bit of a revolving door since the departure of Coach Good, Nino Jackson is leaving the team, but LMU has signed 6-8/205 JUCO PF Marquis Godfrey.DoubleDipper wrote:LMU recently received commitments from a couple of freshmen guards, Nino Jackson and Evan Payne, both 6’2” from Kingdom Christian Academy in Georgia. Jackson is said to be the real deal having scored over 40 points in a number of games this past season.

After just three days of practice at Marquette in his redshirt year, Levin has "left the program."DoubleDipper wrote:It is now being reported that All-WCC Freshman Gabe Levin is departing the team and will transfer. When Levin left LMU at the end of the school year he chose to transfer to Marquette after considering Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and Northwestern. He's a really talented kid.....

Re: LMU Notes
And so it continues.....
Apparently Coach Dunlap is either very difficult to play for or he's just building the team his way....not Coach Good's way.
Last week LMU's top scorer (18ppg) sophomore Evan Payne, from Akron, Ohio, announced he would be leaving the team, and now it is rumored that 6-11 Zambian, Patson Siame will also be leaving.
I think Payne was always in a little trouble with coach Dunlap, as even though he was the best player, he started less than half the games for LMU.
Siame, once considered one of the best LMU recruits since Hank Gathers, was getting 20 minutes per game as a sophomore and putting up respectable numbers. It's my recollection that after attending a postgraduate year at prep school, Siame then redshirted a year at LMU....so if he transfers to a D1 school, he'll probably only have a year to play unless he's granted a waiver by LMU.
My guess: Payne, and possibly Siame, won't be the last departures this season.

Dang....today Siame confirmed he'll be leaving the program.DoubleDipper wrote:My guess: Payne, and possibly Siame, won't be the last departures this season.
In other news, talented and athletic 6-7 freshman SF Devin Wyatt reports he too will be leaving after one year in LA....he's from De Soto, Texas. Not sure Wyatt is truly a D1 baller, but he's definitely athletic.
Haven't checked, but I think that leaves only senior-to-be Marin Mornar from Croatia as the last of Coach Good's recruits.

Re: LMU Notes
Apparently it was getting a little too crowded at point guard for Simon Krajcovic from Slovakia, as it was announced today that he'll be transferring.
Without Krajcovic, LMU lists six point guards on the roster including three walk-ons and two who recently gave verbal commitments.
Krajcovic's departure brings to four the number of players who have transferred from LMU since the end of the season....two who would have been juniors and two who would have sophomores.

Re: LMU Notes
According to this article from West Coast Convo: http://westcoastconvo.com/2015/04/27/lions-get-four-new-commits/
LMU has four very good recruits coming in next year....including one outstanding PG, Brandon Brown, who did not serve a two year mission, but instead served a two year prison sentence.
Not included in the article is a fifth student-athlete who signed today, Adom Jacko, a 6-8 PF out of Chaffey College.

Re: LMU Notes
More movement at LMU.....this time 6-7/245 forward Sherman Vernon has decided to transfer to NAIA Biola University.
Sherman is a bright kid who was at the Air Force Academy a couple of years before transferring to LMU for his redshirt year.
He'll be a junior Biola.

Re: LMU Notes
The exodus continues.....
Former walk-ons Casey Norris and Connor Jean have left the team. Neither of the two played a minute last year, and both are seniors this coming fall, so one has to assume graduating became more important than being a "practice player."
Of the 17 players listed on LMU's roster at the end of the 2014-15 season, only seven remain.
LMU has two incoming freshmen and four incoming JC transfers who will be juniors = 13 on scholarship.

Re: LMU Notes
Adom Jacko, LMU's top scorer and rebounder (he scored 35 against UP in LA in February) has decided to forego his senior year to play professionally.
Unfortunately for LMU, the big-time four-star transfer from Oregon who was expected to replace Jacko in 2017, Trevor Manuel, will have to redshirt this coming season.

Re: LMU Notes
Here is a MMM article on LMU, arguing that Max Good should not have been fired.
https://www.midmajormadness.com/2018/8/6/loyola-marymount-lions-wcc-hoops-max-good
The premise is that he had some good players who ended up transferring, and he had a couple good recruits coming. Not sure that means he would have been able to coach them to winning seasons, and that they all would have stayed.

Re: LMU Notes
Have you noticed how many offers and commitments LMU's new coach is creating?
And he's had a pretty good couple of days bringing back center Mattias Markusson off the transfer portal, and now getting a commitment from Stanford 4-star forward Kodye Pugh, a grad transfer with two years of eligibility remaining.

Verbal Commits says Joe Quintana, a 6'2" senior guard who torched the nets against UOP in the opening round of WCC tourney games, will be transferring. Looks like he has one year to play.

Quintana had a very vocal group of what I assume were family members cheering him on in Las Vegas. Since he's from West Covina, went to high school in La Verne, and Cal Baptist is only 40 miles away in Riverside, I am guessing that was a factor.
