Oregonian release (which makes a little too much of a "surprise bid" idea, IMO): LINK

Neither the OSU nor UP website has the official start time yet.

That sound you hear is The Oregonian's GA rushing to cover his earlier blunder in stating that the Pilots had been eliminated. He's done some excellent work for the Timbers this past year, going above and beyond anything I had hoped or expected, but this brings him down a notch in my book.

So who's up for a road trip?

What a golden opportunity for U of P to go on a little run here! OSU might be a bit of a tough draw, but, it´s great to go into a tourney with lower expectations for a change. I kind of like that...

Per the OSU ticket rep, the ticket prices are unknown and they will be on sale at the event only.

Geoffrey rated the outside backs higher than the center backs. That's Wallace, Hall, Palmer, and Chabala better as a group than Brunner, Futty, and Horst. He did fine in his first year covering the sport but he has a ways to go.
Or, in short...journos out.

Good point. Mayber he was thinking overall depth? Like what were to happen if Horst and Brunner get injured in a mustache shaving mishap? Still, he's provided way better (and more frequent) stories than I was anticipating given the dismal if existant coverage in previous years.

I hope OSU is going to rethink that ticket selling option or are going to boost their normal ticket sales options at the soccer venue because it normally consists of 2 ladies at a card table with a change box.

I don't think they even charge admission for the regular season now. When I went to see the men it was an usher and a table with a stack of rosters. Welcome to college soccer in most of the country.

Their site says that regular season soccer is free admission. Looks like their last 4 games had about 4,000 combined attendance. Maybe charging an admission will help keep the stands more purple than orange.

The NCAA requires them to charge for attendance for this game. I'm not sure what the required charge will be, although it's on line somewhere. I think the NCAA has a minimum required charge, but if regular tickets are more then the school must charge the regular ticket price.
You're correct that for non-tournament games, they don't charge.

at your service...
directly from the 2011 Division 1 Women's Soccer Championship Preliminary Rounds Operations Manual :
The tournament director should assign a ticket manager for the tournament. This person should develop, implement and coordinate advance ticket sale efforts. They should also coordinate game day ticket sales.
1. No complimentary tickets are permitted to NCAA championships.
2. Minimum ticket prices for preliminary-round games:
$1 .....$3...... $7
(children 5 years and under) (students, seniors, children under 12) (public)
Children two years old and younger may be admitted free of charge (if facility policy allows) if accompanied by a ticketed adult.
3. The location of all team tickets and seating for bands and cheerleaders must be approved by the site representative.
4. Any special ticket plans or prices (for senior citizens, youth groups, etc.) must be approved in advance by the NCAA national office.

Pay me later. $3.00 to get in to a championship tournament game ain't bad.

Re: NCAA Tourney: Pilots @ Oregon St, Friday 11/11/11, 7pm
Geez, I knew you'd come through!
The OSU Athletic Department is going to have to really scurry. The first person to tell the ticket office they were hosting on Friday was my wife, when she called (during the bracket show) to see about getting tickets. They said they didn't know they would be hosting, and she told them they would. "Call back later." Later, they said that tickets would be sold only at the game itself, the game would be at 7:00 pm, but maybe at 7:30 pm -- at least, this was what they thought but it might all change.
Geez, as I read the material you posted, they are obligated to have arrangements for advance ticket sales. Do you agree? It seems like we all ought to be calling regularly to find out. They don't have that much capacity.

Yes, they agreed to have arrangements for advanced ticket sales when they submitted their bid package. I looked at the form when I was looking for the handbook.if I recall, they were supposed to even give an estimate of projected sales.

Remember, under the new format fan support was supposed to be considered.
They will have to get their acts together very quickly. I'll give them a break for half a day. It's their first time.

Glad to see we made it again. The first two rounds should be easy, right? I mean we already beat Oregon State and Florida State... oh what, we're playing on the road this year?! Nuts.
