UP Preseason update: Radio & Drum Squad on Twitter

Post by DJ Sherman on Fri Jul 15, 2011 10:18 pm

Even though two of UP's alumnae have been performing well in a tournament over in Germany that seems to be getting a lot of press Wink does not mean you should not be focusing on those who have not yet left the Bluff! Very Happy

Senior Defender Kassi McCluskie stopped by Strong At Night (start around 33:30) after the France victory to provide some insight into ms. Rapinoe and whether she should start on Sunday.

Also the Drum Squad is now on twitter (twitter.com/PilotsDrumSquad) and has already been the subject of a Coach Reveno tweet:

Pilots fans, no tweets yet from Pilots Drum Squad but as you know they are always worth keeping an eye on. @PilotsDrumSquad

If this works, they could tweet to the Geez or anyone on the far side when to start saying "Go Exclamation "

Us old farts are on the near side. We can't walk to the far side.

Great link to kassi's interview.

Proximity to one's location is relative. The Press Box side might be near to the parking lot and most of campus, it is the far side from the Drum Squad. Since I watch from the Drum Squad Side; it is a force of habit to refer to the press box as the "far" side.

I talked with one of the Drum Squad leaders earlier and hopefully this account will allow people who do not usually stand among the Drum Squad to provide chant ideas before or during matches (if a Villan is paying attention), history on the squad or opponents and inevitably spark a fight or two with opposing fans/players.

I have a productive afternoon and Strong himself via the Portland Pilots twitter to thank for linking the interview.

Plus for my 50th post, I figured I should offer a song the Villans and other fans should sing/play over the PA for ms. Rapinoe's return to Merlo, whenever that is and expose it to those who might not have heard it:

Also, PilotNation's favorite ESPN WWC Correspondent offered a challenge to ms. Rapinoe:

@JulieFoudy
500 bucks if u sing into fuzzy mic after goal. Full chorus.

Ms. Rapinoe, always the confident person did not let that tweet breath easily.

mPinoe Megan Rapinoe
@JulieFoudy when do you want to meet up to hand over my 500 bones? I'm around all day tomorrow.
