WCC Retro Shirts

Post by Stonehouse on Wed Jan 13, 2010 2:52 pm

Another nice job by the WCC Staff. Jamie Zaninovich... great hire.

I must say though, I am pretty disappointed in the UP "retro" shirt. (Pepperdine's too, for that matter.) Maybe the problem is that we didn't own the copyright to the old Pilot wheel, but man... we have some great old logos and it's a shame they weren't able to use them. I really hope it's not a case of UP telling them to use the new logo instead of the old one... because come on, there are supposed to be retro shirts for crying out loud! Smile

The WCC's concept is great... but, seriously, the UP shirt is awful. The design... the color.... No

Just because we didnt own the rights to the old "wheel logo" doesnt mean it couldnt be used, though, right? I mean the other school's old logos arent copyrighted, either, are they?!

Another sad chapter in the series of failed UP merchandising... Sad

Unfortunate... I'm a sucker for retro shirts too! The SCU and LMU ones are pretty darn awesome...

What, no "slip it in" shirt? That is as retro as it gets!

DTR, I would buy a shirt with that on it in an instant! (Well, maybe not for $38... but in concept, of course!)

Seriously, you should sent a note to the t-shirt folks with that photo. Let them know what they missed out on.

Hmmm, am I also sensing a PN t-shirt version 2.0 concept?!

Reply posted! And uhhh yeah, I think we can pretty much mark this one down as the next shirt idea (well aside from that target idea)... Now to find someone who can cleanly convert a button to a t-shirt sized logo...

Sigh... and to think this is a topic that gets me pretty fired up about and I STILL let myself start a tangent...

That said, I would love to search the archives or the university museum and dig up some of the old athletics logos, I'll bet you there are some gems just waiting to be discovered.

As for Pepperdine and St. Mary's...I don't know that it counts as retro if the logo was in use when I was in college. That Pepperdine logo with Neptune was pretty cool.

Does the USF one say "We Play Hard" on the back? Beating a Dead Horse
