Second week polls Empty Second week polls

Post by Geezaldinho Mon Aug 31, 2009 9:54 am

Topdrawer is out first again and still has us #1 But he still has UCLA as #4, which isn't supported by how they have done so far.

The good news is that Daniell made his Team of the Week

The player who beat her out for Player of the week had 3 goals against Liberty and Hofstra. I guess that's harder to do than score 2 game winners and 4 goals against PAC10 teams nowdays....

By the way, no Pac10 team has beaten a WCC team yet. the WCC is 4-0-1 against the Pac10 (5-0-1 if you include exhibitions)

Soccer times just released it's new poll.

No change for us except the votes got a lot closer at the top.
Santa Clara's loss to Utah cost them any place in the rankings, but the win didn't help Utah.
USD gained 5 points with a win over AZ and a tie with UCLA
We beat CAL 4–0, and neither team moves in the rankings

and Duke went from top 10 to gone.

Second week polls Empty SA 2nd Week Poll

Post by Geezaldinho Tue Sep 01, 2009 10:16 am

Not a lot of change at the top here, either. After that, things get shaken up a bit. San Diego is knocking on the door of the top 10, And I notice Florida State gets a first place vote, apparently for knocking off those powerhouses Jacksonville, South Alabama, and Stetson. Rolling Eyes
lets see how they do with Penn State and Washington State this weekend.

UNC and Notre Dame play this Friday, so something will give there.

Second week polls Empty Re: Second week polls

Post by Indigo Kid Tue Sep 01, 2009 12:38 pm

There are some surprise teams this year for me.

On the plus side:
Purdue 3-0 after beating Texas A&M with only a handful of shots.

On the minus side:
USC with an 0-2 start
Duke losing 2 in a row.

Any other surprises?

Also note that Pepperdine is two out of the Top 25. Will be pretty cool if the WCC had four teams ranked.

Second week polls Empty College Soccer 360 composite poll

Post by Geezaldinho Wed Sep 02, 2009 4:27 pm

CS360 is now doing a composite of the 4 major polls.

the the compilation is based on a system of 25 for 1st, 24 for 2nd, etc. for each poll.

In addition, it gives a nice side-by-side comparison of the four polls.

Enjoy!

It's worth noting that BYU's Monday win over West Virginia almost certainly was not considered by the polls.
