LMU @ Chiles Center, Saturday 7pm

Post by PilotNut on Sat Feb 21, 2009 12:11 am

Final home game of the season tonight.

Pilots vs. LMU (1-10, 2-25)... should be a chance to continue to focus on getting the ball down low... which is the theme of Jim Beseda's article: LINK

FYI, the final pre-game chalk talk was cancelled for tonight's game. Sad

I like that quote from Knutson ... " Coach expect's the same thing from me as he does everybody else, to play hard,to do what we can to give us a win".

Although it sound's so pat and answer I believe this is the story of the Pilot's over the last two years. This since Rev. has pretty much been able to work with his own players. Although, if you really think about it, this is the first year that Rev. has his first recruiting class only team. The team he has recruited out of HS and/or signed from JUCO. A coach who get's the most out of his early talent is a coach to keep. Coach Eric Reveno Portland Pilot's for co-Coach of the Year of the West Coast Conference if the Pilot's win out.Assuming few win's out too, which isn't a given either, but more likely for him.

The article basically reaffirms what the radio announces were harping on during the last game at USF. We had a huge size advantage and were settling for perimiter shots. I like the fact that Rev recognizes that the importance of this issue has often been masked because guys have been making threes. While that's a good thing, it won't always be the case that perimiter shots will be falling on any given night, or that they are the best shot selection in a given situation.

Tournament basketball is different. March is different. The pace of the game typically slows down. Inside play becomes more prevalent. Rev is a smart guy and knows this. That's the sign of a really good coach, that is he contantly looking for areas to improve, even when things are going well.

Rev gets my vote for WCC COY and national COY!!

For those about to Rock

LOL...Matty, maybe in a couple of years. He's got a ways to go(and to that point, his O-Line has a much further ways to go), but a ton of talent to throw to and a ton of talent himself.

Haha oh Miami never did... It's the football equivalent of one of those shady East Coast prep schools....

But I definitely agree, GO PILOTS!!

I could see how this would confuse a guy who's sporting Rocket Ismail's picture as his avatar Razz

I like that last paragraph in Beseda's article:

"If someone beats us, let them beat us because they're better," Reveno said. "Let them beat us because their coaches do a better job and their players do a better job and they just beat us, but not because we're not ready or we're not focused."--Rev.

Well said, coach.
