2020 recruits
6A, State, and Oregon Gatorade POY Nedye Sawan from Mountainview HS has committed to UP for the 2020 class. She is an FC portland kid.

She scored 24 goals and 10 assists to lead Mountainview to the State semis in Mountainview’s first year as a varsity program.
Nice start to the class.

Re: 2020 recruits
Nothing new to see here folks, I merely copied and pasted my post from earlier today into a more appropriate thread:
In addition to Sawan, I've seen various reports UP has gotten commits from three midfielders, one from the PNW and two from California...Annika Farley from Ridgefield, Hanna McCord from San Francisco, and Sarah Kowack from San Diego.
Hard to say if the plan is to keep the roster at its current number, but if that's the case, there's still a need to get seven more commitments for 2020...
Frenchie has said more than once that she needs "scorers," but I've only heard of one forward that has committed, and she's from FC Portland...Nedya Sawan from Beaverton, the Oregon Girls Soccer Player of the Year 2018-19 with 24 goals and 7 assists playing for Mountainside HS.A_Fan wrote:Any word on who some of those recruits might be?

Re: 2020 recruits
I've read reports today that three of the women mentioned above, Sawan, Farley, and Kowack have signed NLIs with UP, but I'm pretty sure McCord has also signed.
I think we can expect an announcement from UP when these four have signed or perhaps when all the women's soccer recruits have signed...and there are probably at least six more we don't know about for a total of 10.
It will take awhile to for Frenchie to have "her" team at the level she wants, but the graduation of 11 players after the just completed season will give that process a jump-start as this year's recruiting class arrives this coming summer.

Re: 2020 recruits
The upwomenssoccer Instagram feed has been announcing player signings all day.
They were:
F- Nedya Sawan Beaverton , mountainside (FC portland)
D - Sophia Mattice Folsom CA (San Juan SC)
MF - Sara Kowack San Diego CA ( DMVC Sharks)
MF - Hannah McCord San Francisco ( SF Elite)
D - Camille Ashe Arlington Va ( McLean YSC)
F- Aubrey Turner Piedmont CA (Lamorinda SC)
I expect there will be at least a couple more before next season starts.

Re: 2020 recruits
How does #3 pronounce her name?
This could make life confusing, cheering for Sara Kowack at Merlo on Saturday night and then for Sarah Kwak (Oregon Symphony concertmaster) at the Schnitz on Sunday.

Re: 2020 recruits
Looks like UP is pausing for now after adding seven 2020 recruits to the program...Camille Ashe, Annika Farley, Sarah Kowack, Sophia Mattice, Hannah McCord, Nedya Sawan, and Aubrey Turner.
All will be incoming freshmen...

Re: 2020 recruits
UP women's soccer has got to add some transfers and/or international players for 2020, don't you think?
With the recent signing of all the kids, it seems right to post a picture of a kid back when Adidas was the brand of choice at UP, the WCC consisted of only West Coast teams, and the WCC logo not only made sense, it wasn't teal.

Re: 2020 recruits
Just wondering after seeing where Jesuit kids signed to play. Why do the Pilots not sign these kids? Seems like the last one was maybe 15 years ago.

Re: 2020 recruits
It doesn't necessarily answer your question, but the only Jesuit women's soccer recruits I'm aware of have either signed with BIG schools/programs (UW and Notre Dame), or in one case, with a future career in mind (Army).ejjqb wrote:Just wondering after seeing where Jesuit kids signed to play. Re: 2020 recruits
It has been quite awhile...the last Women's Soccer signing from Jesuit that I can recall was 10 years ago, when Sarah Bridges arrived as a 2010 recruit before playing four years on The Bluff and after playing club soccer at FC Portland.ejjqb wrote:Just wondering after seeing where Jesuit kids signed to play. Re: 2020 recruits
It saddens me that UW could now be considered a big program, and UP not.

Re: 2020 recruits
I haven't seen it announced anywhere yet, but while Logan is in Europe looking for "internationals," UP has signed another freshman, Samantha "Samy" Sierra, a 5-6 MF/F from Millikan HS in Long Beach, California.

Interesting her highlights are as a forward and I notice I got from UP lists her as a defender.
But then, that’s the path Frenchie walked...
