Illinois Friday Nov 22nd

I went to check out the Nebraska soccer field this afternoon, to be sure I knew how to get there.  It was a good thing.  There are two campuses in Lincoln, the East Campus and the City Campus.  I first went to the East Campus.  The field is at the City Campus.  It's right next to Memorial Coliseum where they play that game with the funny shaped ball.

It's going to be very interesting to see what they do to accommodate fans.



See those people on the right in lawn chairs and standing? There's a reason they're there. See the very wide track they're sitting on? The bleachers are to the right of the track -- about 20 or 30 yards from the field.

Maybe they'll bring in portable bleachers, but as of 4:00 pm Lincoln time this afternoon, there was nothing like that in sight.

Since they moved to this site in 2005, I wondered why their website tells about plans for a brand new soccer and tennis facility elsewhere. Now I get it.

Hey all, it's snowing and blowing, though not accumulating. But, not to worry, its 22 degrees.

Great overhead, Geez, that's exactly what it looks like. Good grief!

Practice today was indoors for the Pilots ... they consider themselves lucky, that being the case. I think it was here:

I am so excited you got to go to Nebraska. Cheer loudly for all of us back home.

You got it. I'm not alone here, there are other oldies. We'll yell all we can.

Skies are pretty clear this morning, and the wind has died down so that's good. It's in the low 20s now, which is not good, but my app says it should get up to 27 degrees by game time. But, it's all relative -- it looks a lot better than it did yesterday.

The good news is the video feed is free.

The bad news is it looks cold as hell and the field is a mess.


The flag is flapping like crazy, so if that's died-down wind, I wouldn't have wanted to be there yesterday.

Villa chants are coming through loud and clear.

The game commentary leaves something to be desired, but I agree the cheers are loud and clear.

The pilots are passing really well considering conditions.

2-0 Pilots, not that I saw either goal. Pilots are dominating with possession and passing. Defense is solid.

This is actually one of my better experiences with online commentary for away matches

I have a little bit of herky-jerky motion, but it's watchable for the most part. No aneurisms yet.
