Spring Schedule 2013
This one isn't a rumor.
The first official announcement is from Seattle U.
Their schedule page shows a 10:30 AM game against PSU and a 3:00 PM game against UP in Portland on Sunday, April 14.
I'm betting both are at Merlo.

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
dawgs have their spring schedule out there. We play them at Merlo on April 7 at 3pm. Announcement says they are expected to challenge for Pac 12 title this year. What did they have, 3 wins in conference last year?? We'll see.
Gonzaga has their spring schedule out too, but we aren't on it.

I see UW has the Sounders Women, not the Reign, at Starfire.

Something is happening at that place we like to go to -- with a team nearby that has kinda the same name -- on Friday.
4:00 PM. Be there
You can't find that on BS

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
The undisclosed event ended with the other guys getting a goal and the home team not.
Lots of disjointed play with players out of position. Dees got whacked going up for a ball and had to leave the game. Nicole came in and appeared to lose a routine ball in the sun for a goal.
Both teams had a few tries that didn't finish, including a pipe and a double pipe.
We had some very young refs. I think the center left his whistle home.

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
The good news is that nearly all of the roster were healthy enough to see action, the sole exception being Sarah Bridges. Sara Bindl, replacing the other Sarah at center back, showed some skills. There was some shifting in the outside back positions, which I guess will extend into the fall seeking a combination to succeed Kendall and Taylor.

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
It was great to be at Merlo on a fine sunny afternoon watching two local teams battle it out on the pitch. PSU had a large contingent of fans who were thrilled with outcome. We Pilot fans not as thrilled, but it was fun to see the team on the field competing. I though Bindl did a very good job in central defense. Someone sitting near me thought Nicole misplayed the shot on goal, but I agree with Geezer, I think she had a problem with the sun.

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
Canada has announced a U17-U19 camp right here in Portland for March 16-25 to try out players for the next U20 cycle. (NIKE? Tualatin?)

I'd expect we might see a test against UP sometime in that span.

Unless Canada changes shirt sponsors in the next year, I'd think Tualatin as the most likely locale...

I will ask my Nike friends to keep vigilant for any mention of an event at their Campus.

Was Nike their sponsor in 2008? They held a camp there then.

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
Canada wore Umbro jerseys the last few years. Umbro was owned by Nike until October last year, when they sold the brand to Iconix. Nike may have retained the relationship with Canada.

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
Well, I mean if Nike can extract England from Umbro, I'm sure they can for Canada if they felt so inclined... (But Canada still has Umbro listed on their website as sponsor, whereas England has made the switch). But I suppose that yes, Nike still might let their former brand grace their fields

It wouldn't have been hard to extract from England. They owned Umbro until the middle of last year. They sold the mark after the switch.

Re: Spring Schedule 2013
Looking at the recruiting SS news feed tab, both UO and OSU have their spring schedule out:
UP plays OSU down there on April 20th.
We are not on the UO schedule this spring. They do play UW, OSU, & PSU.
Isn't it silly we have to look to other schools sites to see when we play spring games? With pro ball starting next month, we're not the only women's game in town anymore.

I have to confess, I sort of like it this way. It keeps the Spring games "in proper proportion." And, it provides a great sleuthing challenge.

It might aleady be in this thread or another, but I'm still betting the Pilots and Thorns will tangle sometime next month.....
