If you haven't been keeping up, Kendall Johnson has been writing the blog entries this year.

This one is #7, in which she sends a special greeting to Pilot Nation!

Howdy right back, Kendall.

In this morning's dead-tree version of the Oregonian:
Kendall Johnson is 5-foot-5 and soft-spoken. The Portland Pilots' junior left back hardly seems intimidating.

But it's an example of a deceiving package. Johnson is a difference maker for the Pilots, a tenacious defender who is capable of kick-starting the team's offense.

"I hate playing against Kendall, because she's so hard to get around. That's why I'm so happy she's on our team," UP forward Micaela Capelle said.

All it takes is a comparison of Portland's 2011 and 2012 seasons to uncover what Johnson means to the Pilots.

With Johnson sidelined as she recovered from knee surgery, Portland struggled to its worst record since 1983 last season. Healed and ready for 2012, Johnson has led Pilots (6-2-2) back to prominence.

"I don't know that we're necessarily more talented, but we have Kendall back. The difference is exactly what you see this year," UP coach Garrett Smith said.
