PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland junior forward Amanda Frisbie, who scored four goals during Friday’s 5-0 win over Fresno State, was named the WCC’s Co-Player of the Week, sharing the award with Pepperdine’s Amanda LeCave. Frisbie also landed on Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Week, and she was named the Husky/Nike Invitational’s Offensive MVP after helping the No. 20 Pilots claim the tournament title with a pair of wins.
Frisbie’s performance marks the 16th time in University of Portland history that a player has scored four goals in a single match, and she is the first since Danielle Foxhoven netted four versus San Francisco on Oct. 25, 2009. The five-goal margin of victory was the largest for the Pilots since a 9-0 win over UT-San Antonio in the opening round of the 2010 playoffs, a game in which Frisbie recorded her first career hat trick as a freshman.
Frisbie notched two first half goals against the Bulldogs before scoring two more within the first three minutes of the second half. Her four goals, including the game-winner, came on just five shots, and she attempted three more shots, two on-goal, during Portland’s 3-0 win over No. 22 La Salle on Sunday.
Frisbie and the Pilots are set to host perennial power Notre Dame at Merlo Field on Friday night. Kickoff between the Pilots and Fighting Irish is set for 7 p.m.
