Saw her play once, as I recall......she's very, very athletic, good with the ball, and a scorer. Can't remember a thing about her passing or defense.up7587 wrote:According to O-Live, Hannah Griffiths-Boston from Grant also signed.
She should fit right in playing with her former Grant teammate, Parkes Kendrick. It’s good to see local talent staying local.

I heard that Madeline “Maddie” Dieker, a mid-fielder/forward from Lawrence Free State High School in Lawrence, Kansas is going to sign once she can get through the snow to the school fax machine…...

The spokesman lists Jessica Kennedy as having signed her letter
And Maxpreps says Kaycie Young also signed.
I think she was the first committ in this class.
welcome!

Yeah, Amanda was a striker.
The goalkeeper might take a while. The rumor is a transfer. ( old rumor)

Re: 2014 recruiting
If memory serves correctly, last year we all had to wait about a month before UP made their recruit list public. For those, like me, that have trouble dealing with patience...this is frustrating.

Re: 2014 recruiting
The link is to a video concerning the attributes of last year’s recruiting class by Lisa Sari, published on February 14—memories of last year fade quickly—regardless of last year we still may need to wait a week or so. Impatience runneth over for all of us who would like to know who is coming to play goal—that may take until spring or summer.

Re: 2014 recruiting
Sorry to hear that Hall and Elmer are leaving. They both looked promising players.
By my count that makes 13 returning players and 5 incoming freshmen. And given that only one is a GK I'm hoping that there's another player coming from somewhere. Even if Ms. Luty is good enough to start (and I don't think anyone knows with a freshman) they need a back up.

Re: 2014 recruiting
There were 8 last year.
Not an unreasonable number to expect this year, given the need at goalie and opportunities elsewhere.
Looking forward to seeing a final compiled list with stats and bios.

Re: 2014 recruiting
This is a goalie lite lineup. If there isn’t another coming then the anxiety associated with a freshman goalie can only be exacerbated by having just one of them.
There seems to be an unchallenged acceptance of the notion that the Pilot staff have an assurance from some transfer, yet undisclosed. Really . . .we have two transfers from the program, both long ago disclosed to the public.
What explanation can there be for not yet knowing who the transfer may be? Is the potential transfer afraid of backlash from her current school? Are we to believe that the transfer has made no decision this late in the recruiting year?
Pray tell.

There tends to be another transferring period that takes place during the Spring season as players start to get a feel for their playing time and role with their teams.

Re: 2014 recruiting
These 6 sound really great, and I am sure will be contributing soon.
Are these 6 and the mysterious goalie transfer likely to be the entire class? Wouldn't mind a few more bodies on the bench.
Wasn't shocked that Elmer transferred out, wasn't likely she was going to get much time at forward. I thought Hall was a likely starter next year, so she was more surprising. Guess she wanted to be closer to home.

I could be wrong but thought that Develyn Jeter was going to fill in at center back.

I haven't seen evidence of that in practices last year. I expect her as a mid, with an outside chance as a forward. There actually seem to be 3-4 players who have central defender on their resumes for next year with only Amanda's spot open from this year. Of course, all jobs are open.
Not many expected Frisbie as a central defender.

Re: 2014 recruiting
An interesting article on women’s soccer recruiting:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/27/sports/committing-to-play-for-a-college-then-starting-9th-grade.html?_r=0
Interesting list of schools recruiting 8th graders. The thoughts of the coach of the Chicago Eclipse are recorded: one wonders if his resistance to early recruiting had an effect with Erin Dees choice of schools.

Well, we had her here on PilotNation as committed at least by fall 2008. Her first year was fall 2010.
https://www.pilotnation.net/t817p30-2010-recruits#9734
A couple interesting things about that thread. If you read it from the start, a lot of it is about early recruiting, so it is nothing new. And it starts in March 2008 for the 2010 class and the only mention of kids had them already committed every time they are mentioned. There is no breaking news there.
And the truth is, it usually takes a while before we find out. So in that case at least, the coach had less than perfect influence.

I heard today a pair of Scappoose High School sophomores gave verbal commitments to play soccer at UP.......Apparently First-team All-State players Lucy Davidson and Natalie Muth both committed to play for the Pilots.PurpleGeezer wrote:Well, we had her (Erin Dees) here on PilotNation as committed at least by fall 2008.
