Sophie
I watched a little UP youtube tonight. They had the UW shootout which I had not seen on video before. One thing I am going to miss about Soph is that she was the first to console Jessica and DeYoung. A real leader even in defeat. I'll miss that this fall.
The freshmen showed their stuff under pressure in sudden death a goal down which we can take heart also.

Re: Sophie
Despite Sophie's leadership and humanity, watching that video is just about as disappointing as it was to watch it live.

Sophie Profile
From Canada.com Sports:
PROFILE: Sophie Schmidt has been a member of the senior national team since 2007. She appeared in all three matches for Canada at the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup (scoring a goal), started all four matches at the 2008 Olympic Games, and won a 2011 Pan American Games gold medal. She captained the Canadian Under-20 team at the 2006 FIFA World Championships in Russia.
Schmidt has become one of the most consistent players on Canada’s squad as she was the lone player to appear in all 24 of Canada’s international “A” matches in the 2011 season, thus setting the national record for matches in a season, leading the team with 1,944 minutes on the international scene.
From Abbotsford, B.C., Schmidt spent six seasons playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps, winning a W-League title in 2006 while playing a big role in the team’s undefeated regular season and run to the W-League final in 2010.
Schmidt has one pre-game ritual: “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson is her special pre-game song.
