Re: Other scores - week 3
And the all powerful UNC "demolished" Cal Poly SLO by a whopping score of 1-0!
Notre Dame lost to UCLA, Florida State lost.
I sense a disturbance in the force - Top 10 Rankings.
(What a great season!)

TAMU beat Purdue 2-1, though it took them overtime to do it.
And in a battle of the futiles, Highpoint beat Clemson 4-3
In an effort to get some wins before the ACC season, Clemson scheduled 7 teams with RPI's over 200. This one backfired.

Other scores of interest:
Arizona 3, Tennessee 1 (the low end of the Pac 10 against the upper middle -- maybe -- of the SEC)
Arizona State 5, Nebraska 0 (Nebraska looked like they are mounting a resurgence. Maybe not. ASU is looking very good.)
Indiana 1, Hofstra 3.
Cal 6, Long Beach State 0 (The outcome is not a surprise, but the score is. Cal must be playing well.)
High Point 4, Clemson 3. (The Geez already commented appropriately on this one.)
Loyola Marymount 0, Notre Dame 1
Mississippi 1, Memphis 2 (More grief for the SEC, although Memphis has a good program.)
Oregon 0, Kansas 1 (Oregon has been dominating games, including this one, that it has not won because it cannot score. Micaela Capelle, anyone?)
Virginia 3, Boston University 0 (Virginia is looking very strong.)
Virginia Tech 2, Vanderbilt 1 (The Hokies -- remember, it has something to do with a turkey -- are not having a great year. More grief for the SEC.)
Washington 0, Rutgers 1 (UW had a shot off the crossbar in the last 10'. Although I wanted UW to win, it is sort of poetic justice, as Penn State had one off the crossbar against UW in the last 10' of their game.)
Washington State 1, Colorado 2. (These two teams are struggling this year. This must be very painful for WSU, which is a program I like. And a great sense of relief for Colorado, which is another program I like.)
Wisconsin 1, Milwaukee 0. This was an almost absolute must win for Wisconsin.

I started thinking about this and about who else might be trying this strategy.
This lead me to our own WCC and how it is that St Mary's got so good all of a sudden, sitting on a 6-1-0 record.
It seems they scheduled 4 teams with RPI's over 200 and Hawaii, which had a 196 RPI last year.
their BEST RPI team is Utah at 81.
The thing is, their cupcake for today, Cal Bakersfield, didn't co-operate for them either. Bakersfield handed them a 0-1 loss.

Right. Well, it shows up in their current RPI ranking (unadjusted), which has them at #147 notwithstanding their 6-1-0 record. But, to the Pilots' benefit, in terms of what they add to another team's RPI for having played them, they are at #45. The Pilots are #5 in the unadjusted RPI, but for strength of schedule purposes, the Pilots are the best team to have played. Confused?
