WPS All-Star Game: A Pair for Sinclair

Christine Sinclair, a super sub off the bench, scored two 2nd half goals just minutes apart to lead the WPS All-Stars to a 4-2 win over Swedish champion UMEA. Megan Rapinoe played in the first half and Tiffeny Milbrett came on in the 2nd. Cheers to the former Pilots who played in the first WPS All-Star Game!

Huh, a Marta/Sinclair strikeforce?? I pity the defenders who had to try and contain that duo...

Well, the defenders from Sweden COULDN'T contain them. Christine had another shot (header) go off the crossbar, and another good chance on a through ball. Could have been 4 goals, in one half of action. It reinforces my opinion, after seeing the US play Canada in Rochester earlier, that she is one of the top few players (4 or 5?) in the world and might be the leading scorer of all time playing on a better team. Absolutely tremendous first touch.

Yeah her first touch, and quick, powerful shot are second to none...

The WPS was pretty much an Americas team (North and South) -- it would be cool to see an Americas vs the World (Europe, Asia, Africa) showdown some time. The WPS offense in the 2nd half also featured Abby Wambach, so was just a monster attack force.

I just watched a rebroadcast of the game. Christine was amazing. she had three more chances that almost went is as well, once when she got behind the defense, on a header from a corner kick, and on a blast from the right side that clanked on the bar.

Then she was dangerous a couple more times.

It was nice to see Megan and Tiffeny doing their thing, too When the NW gets a team, they should all be on it.

One tip for Megan -- knee over the ball
